Trail run. 10 miles on the BST, North from Kaysville. Run started at 11:12 AM under mostly sunny skies with temps from mid to upper 80's. A little warm. Got a nice little Mother Nature reminder from a rattler just as I started my run. It was huge, black and yellow striped, and loud! I saw another snake, just the garden variety kind, sunning a few miles further down the trail. I ran this course five weeks ago in 1:55:20, an 11:32 per mile average. Today I ran the same course in 1:46:27, a 10:39 average pace. Huge difference. I just felt really good today, able to take advantage of any flat sections and stretch the legs out. I saw two other runners on the trail. One woman, just up from Fernwood park. Then about a half mile from the finish I came up on an older guy. I was a little embarrassed about passing him like some young punk. I slowed and said hello as I passed and he picked up his pace and we got down to a sub 7 minute pace at the end there. I was having trouble keeping up with him. Awesome dude. 63 years old and 6 months out of heart surgery. He's just starting to build back his mileage. It made my day to run with this guy for a few minutes. Around 2,400 ft. gain/drop total.
