Jason's mucus buster tempo (sexy, right?). Ran down 231 and back for most of the run - 11.2 miles, averaged 7:13 w/ 8-mile fast finish tempo. Splits 7:20, 7:03, 7:03, 6:49, 6:50, 6:53, 6:27, 6:33. 3.2 between warm up and cool down.

A beautiful day. 40 and mostly sunny. Pleased to be hitting lower 6 minute range after 8 miles this early (15 weeks to my target half and 19 to my next marathon) and just recovering from my first sickness is two years.

Nice running Jason, especially considering that the man flu has had you at death's door - you are Lafayette's answer to Clark Kent - actually, make that Ralph from the Simpsons:)

Great finish, looking really strong. I think anytime you can average at or under MP on a longer progressive run like that, you're making great inroads to a faster half/full marathon PR. I definitely have some runs like this one in the plan over the next few months.

Bam: I like to think I am a little more like Clark Kent and Lafayette is a lot more like Springfield, but the jury is still out :)

Joe: I've been thinking about what you posted about what Sasha said about V02 max and lactate threshold workouts. Although my times are still getting better and I do some speed early in my training, I still need to focus on some speed throughout more of the training build up (shorter intervals and longer timed intervals at 15k pace or a bit below). I do think you can run some decent HM times of long run/progressive tempos (say a 10 + 8). My fastest half marathon is off high mileage and one tough workout (7 x 1 mile w/ 90 sec rest) and several 18-19 milers with 8 mile tempos. I am trying to mix stuff up a bit and break from plan when necessary (as I did today). I think your run the other week with two fast finish miles is an excellent indication of your fitness. Think how hard those splits would have been in your last half marathon and think of how they felt the other day.
