AM: North side - 5.25 miles, averaged 8:10. Did some strides.

Registered for Boston this morning. When I was first told I had to qualify for Boston when I started running three years I ago, I said "Okay, so I will qualify." I thought running 7:15 would be impossible, then they dropped the times and I thought 7s would take years. Now, running 6:30s as marathon pace has been acheived, and I envison low 6s by April. I am excited to see what the next three years bring.

PM: Spring Vale Cemetery - 6.25 miles, averaged 8:03. 94 degrees w/ 26% humidity and a good, stiff breeze. My kind of hot.

Awesome...Boston! I think you are in for some great running in the next three years. Enjoy the journey.

That's why races that have standards (Boston, Oly Trials) that keep getting tougher are GOOD for the sport. You have two choices when the bar gets raised - reach up and get it anyways, or say its too hard and give up.

You're only scratching the surface of what you are capable of. It will definitely be exciting to see where you can go from here.

That's great you got registered! I'm excited to see what you can do!

Hey, I just signed up today too. It'll be good to meet you and everyone else finally.

car[a]mel, sugarloaf, boston[cream pie]! Man, now I want a Boston creme pie, but, training weight, training weight, training weight.

Thanks, all.

Jake: Yep. The bar has been raised: hit the women's OT qualifying standard (Bam's joke, my completely serious goal). Maybe not April, but soon enough.

From Jason D on Wed, Sep 11, 2013 at 19:48:06 from 24.1.80.94

Joe: Definitely. I've gotten pretty good at recognizing people from the blog, so if I see you, I'll know. I'll be dressed as a ninja, so look for that. I picked out Scott Keate as he was cruising toward the finish at this last year's Boston. At Carmel last year I did strides next to Joe Bell, but I don't think he knew who I was.

From Jake K on Wed, Sep 11, 2013 at 19:53:21 from 67.177.11.154

The Women's OT standard is no joke. 2:43 is a fast time and an excellent goal.

From Jason D on Wed, Sep 11, 2013 at 21:28:42 from 24.1.80.94

Not by any means. I always qualify that goal because I don't want people think I am being a *$*$&%(* or that I am suggesting it isn't difficult. That's my current half PR pace!
