AM: 8.25 miles easy. HR 145.

PM: 4.75 miles easy. HR 138.

My watch was busted so I picked up a new one and a new HR monitor. My old one was from my first Garmin I got in 2010. I am pretty sure my heart rate has been fairly inaccurate given how I felt during the afternoon run with the new one and the results I got. I know I'm not an Olympic athlete but I should be able to get me heart rate much lower than 140-145 for 9:30-9:40 pace.

The 620 is pretty amazing. In a lot of ways it has too much stuff, but I like to look at numbers (just not so much when I am running). I got the stupid extra warranty because if anything goes wrong I want it covered. If not, it's the last Garmin I will ever buy. Hopefuly IT IS the last Garmin I ever buy.

I kind of wish my watch would completely die so I could justify getting the 620 or 920. Maybe an "accident" is looming. Lots of good miles lately. Nice job.

Yeah it's hard to replace your watch if the old one is still working, but a new one would be nice.

Enjoy the new watch Jason. I'd agree that your HR should be lower than 140 for 9:30 pace.

Everyone else seems to have good luck with theirs. Mine all seem to mess up in one way or another (died, broken strap, fogged over screen, etc). The 620 is pretty jazzy. A bit too much money I suppose.

The heart rate guess was based on some admittedly very unscientific, unmathematically sound comparisons :-) It would also read 160-170 while running 10 minute pace while I was talking Megan's ear off.

I've been checking other folk's training and although I am not even close to the same shape (and never will be) I wasn't able to get my HR low enough for really proper recovery despite running about as slow as I can manage.

If I had to run much slower I am not sure I would be moving forward!
