AM: Off. Had some academic work that needed to get done.

PM: Spring Vale Cemetery - 10.25 miles, averaged 8:19. Stopped by Tri-N-Run on the way home from to use my gift certificate to get new compression socks to replace the one I lost. Went with CEP recovery. My others were CEP run, and they were great. I think my legs are bigger (just over 16" up from maybe 15 or 15.25 when I bought my first pair).

Now i don't feel quite as bad about payoff my am workout.

I think the number of full days I have taken off this year is less than 12, and 7 of those were the week after my marathon. When Jake takes a day off you really shouldn't feel bad. Those come but maybe, maybe twice a year.

Good point.

What's the difference between "run" and "recovery". I have CEP compression leg sleeves that have some curvey lines drawn on them outlining my calves and I have some socks that just say CEP really big on the outside of my calf. They both feel a little different. And 16"!? I thought mine were massive. I haven't measured them recently but 14.25 is where they were when I bought my first pair.

The recovery are graduated, which basically means the compression is tighter in key areas to help move blood from your feet.

Legs sleeves are for RUNNING only, not recovery. The blood pools in your feet and you need to circulate it. So use full socks for recovery, sleeves for actual running. If you have two different full socks, then one is probably race and one is recovery (race and run are the same, just can't recall which one they call it). I used the run socks for recovery and they were fine.

I checked my old socks and they are the same size, but I remember being unsure of which way to size. I definitely have continued to develop muscle in my legs. My calf veins are coming in nicely, which is either impressive or gross, depending on how one feels about veins :)

Good to know about the sleeves. Before i bought my socks i wore them for recovery. Not good. My ankles were ginormous at the end of the day.

The socks i have feel quite a bit different than my sleeves so i'm wondering if they're more of a recovery sock.. I'll have to look them up tomorrow.

I have some wicked veins popping out of one of my calves. I thought that was something abnormal.

They can both be used for recovery I think. I used the run socks for for about 18 months, but lost one. I've only ever run in them once. You don't notice them really.

I'm pretty sure the ones I've been wearing to work daily are the recovery ones. I measured my calves today and my right one is up to 17.5 and my left is about 3/4" smaller. I thought that was weird.
