Perfect weather today. 55 with high humidity, but it dropped off and felt very cool, especially shirtless. Lots of runners today. Perhaps the most enjoyable run I've ever done. Put the finishing touches on my new long run route - 19 miles, averaged 7:38 w/ 8 or 11 miles at MGP depending on how you run the numbers.

Started to pick it up around miles 9-11. Those ended up being slow marathon pace miles (7:28, 7:29, 7:24). I put down a gel at mile 11 just to make sure I can still handle the nasty creatures. Then I went into a more concentrated marathon effort even though I guess @ 7:05-7:06 pace the last 11 miles where on pace. The last mile I tried to slow down, but my legs were in the groove. Miles 12-19: 7:11, 6:54, 6:56, 6:49, 6:50, 6:53 (water stop), 6:45, 7:26. The Miles 15.5-17ish where on the trail through some muddy spots. Tried not to slip, but I did get a little bit of mud on my yellow babies. Toughens 'em up I guess. A little over 2 hours and 25 minutes

Sounds like a perfect long run. MP over a nice long stretch with some quicker miles mixed in. Sounds like you are thinking 3:05 @ Indy? Although you might not want to limit yourself to that, if things keep going well.

3:04:59! It's weird going from thinking 3:15 was a stretch to thinking 3:05 is a decent possibility. The weather last year was about 10-15 degrees cooler than today and humidity much lower. The year before it was 29 degrees (!), just ask Paul; he was there and took 3rd I think at 2:19 something.

I'll be running with a pace group until at least the last 5k or probably until mile 24. I feel like it's cheating, but I still have to run the race and I will be sure to be the first to cross the line for the group. Anything faster I would be pushing my luck, but it would help to have you pacing (I see your PR was so darn consistent it's scary. I had a 15k that was pretty consistent, but that's only 9+ miles and it was slow).

Great run, Jason. That's gotta fill you with confidence. Things are starting to look good for Nov 3rd. And you've still got a good way to go!

Watch those yellow babies - make sure you wipe away those mud splashes. It's one thing toughening them up but you want to keep them looking them zappy.

Thanks, Bam. The run felt awesome and did put some confidence in my step. Need to make sure I don't break my leg in the next 8 weeks and I think I will be rewarded on race day.
