AM: Flourtown Tempo Loop - 12 miles, averaged 7:13 w/ 5-mile tempo

I kept changing the workout so that I couldn't get nerved up about it. I decided on a 4-5 mile tempo as I was headed down the hill. The workout went well, even if I wanted it to be a bit closer to half PR pace of ~5:55 or faster. Can't complain though (I'm not quite there). The real idea was to build confidence and regain focus. Think I achieved that. Started out slow, but I knew it was slow.

Feeling better today thanks to a number of excellent FRB coaches.

Splits were: 6:09, 6:03, 6:03, 6:01 5:53 (~6:02 average)

PM: 4.25 miles easy with Megan. I was very loopy around mile 2 until the conclusion of our run. Lack of calories or dehydrated or both. Trying to tighten up on food intake.

Awesome! I saw your strava post before this and deducted it was a 5-mile tempo around 6:00-flat. But you can't always tell for sure the way Strava records it. Nice run.

Strata automatically does mile splits, even if you lap the watch or if you have the auto turned off like I do. I started at 4 miles just in case I didn't want to take splits and just check them later. Strava also rounds pretty seriously (13.1 is 13.0 and so on).

I don't tend to run 4-5 mile tempos on the road because they are hard. Last fall (late in a buildup) I ran 5 @ 5:48. That was after 3-4 months of 340-370 miles. But I guess I don't have to tell you how fitness comes and goes. Onward and upward!

That's how you do it - nice run Jason. The times will come down, as I'm sure you know, as long as the effort is good.
