AM: 9th to the Heritage Trail out and back, little variation at the end to get some light, gradual climbing - 6.25 miles, averaged 8:35

PM: Union to Courtland and back - 6 miles, averaged 7:33. Started a MP tempo after 2 miles, but quickly realized I wasn't ready for it. More mad that I was foolish enough to think I was. 1 mile @ 6:50, cursed myself for my post-5k-PR arrogance, ran back toward home, and did a slight downhill/flat quarter in 76 seconds. Just kinda cruised the first 200 or so meters and then I hit the flat a bit harder and went into low on gas mode. Amazing what even a slight grade will do.

Also amazing what a "measly" 3.1 mike race will do to you.

You racked up the miles today. Nice!

The problem is that I ran 6+ in the afternoon that day (usually a race afternoon is 4-5), then 12 early the next day. Trying to fight current fitness rather than roll with it.

11-14 miles off of doubles 3-4 times a week is pretty standard when I get into a training cycle, but I think I am feeling the 22 days in a row (also nothing unprecedented but it's been a while).

Easy recoveries tomorrow, but it is dropping into the 50s! Almost cold!

At least you tried to try, that's something!

50's...how is this possible?! I'm coming to visit.

One of the hardest things for me is not fighting my fitness. 22 days is quite a stretch. Now that you mention it, that seems to be when i start feeling it. I think it's good though. Really convinces your head and body to keep going when it shouldn't.

These temps are unreal. Race time Saturday is forecasted at 47°!

From Jason D on Wed, Jul 24, 2013 at 20:29:29 from 24.1.80.94

Joe, I have been wondering the same thing. 53 for the low. Going to hopefully get a LT tempo in in the morning. I'd gladly send you some cool, dry air if I were in control.

I think I hit 80 days in a row from Feb-April I think. That kind of consistency can be beneficial, but it can also wear you down. 47 will feel cold, but that is some fine racing weather!
