AM - 11.5 Middleton/Grass. Easy recovery run out and back into Middleton and then barefoot on the grass for practice. Ran in the new Kinvara 5's. They felt pretty good. To me, a similar feel as the old ones. Hopefully running in some new shoes will help out a few of the aches and pains a bit. (Kinvara green 7)(Barefoot '14 26)

When you say "old ones" which versions are you talking about? Just curious...

The 3 or 4. They don't feel too different to me; which is good because I like that feel. Although it usually takes me 100 miles or so to really make a judgement on a shoe... I think I was just happy to have a new shoe on!

Yeah they have to balance a fine line between improving the shoe - but also not changing it too much from what people like. I like the 5s even better than the 3/4s - they feel more like the 2s, but I prefer the fit (wider toebox) and "plush" feel of the 5s.

It's my favorite shoe right now... I'm alternating it (among others) w/ Kinvara 2s that just refuse to die.

I have a pair of 1's that I still kick around a bit! What I think I like about the 5 better than the 3/4 (somehow I never had the 2's) is that even with the wider toe box, they don't feel as sloppy (or slidey around on the foot).

I'd say that's the best improvement with this version. They flared out both sides of the forefoot just a few millimeters - the perfect amount to give it a little more interior space and a more stable platform for pushing off, but not so much that it got sloppy.
