Short-Term Running Goals:

-Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.

-Break stroller records?

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home.

I felt a little fatigued this morning which caused concern. However, about halfway through it went away! Weird. Still, I will try to get a little more sleep and stop going to the cycling class as I had planned. Most of the exhaustion I felt in my quads which I have been pushing pretty hard on the bike anyway.

AM: Cutdown in seven segment of 1.5 miles each on Murdock canal trail. Here are the paces for each segment: 6:14, 6:04, 5:46, 5:40, 5:26, 5:24, 5:19. I ran a little under pace, but was disappointed after expecting something much easier. All I can do is hope I get faster.

PM: 4.5 miles. Today was quite hot. I also played pickleball at noon. I just felt like I was drinking water all day and constantly needed more!

5:57 pace in the canyon. I should probably back it off a little.

Had a fun little adventure running in Garland today. I ran by fields, along a canal, and had one of my favorite pastimes- chancing upon a race and joining in. It was only like a mile of the Wheat and Beet days (yes you heard that right) 5k. Windy, but overall a good day. Strides.
