Short-Term Running Goals: -Qualify for the 2024 Olympic marathon trials Long-Term Running Goals: -Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list. An Olympic Trials qualifier would be amazing.
-Break stroller records?
-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.
Personal: I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I served a mission in Rome, Italy from 2015 to 2017. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet, which I believe helps my running. I like chocolate shakes on sunday nights and I will always call the Pacific northwest home. |

| | Wow, is it already time to say goodbye to my grey Sauconys? I suppose it is.
AM: 5 miles
PM: 11 miles. To be honest, I was a little bummed that my knee and achilles were as sore as they were today. Oh well. I may have to do the whole workout in trainers tomorrow. If so, its no big deal. At least I can do it.

| | Alright, it’s time to think critically. I have determined that my iron levels are normal. Today I felt just kind of tired again. I think it was fine aerobically but I just didn’t have the pop. Coach suggested that I bring down my mileage. So that’s what I’ll do. Rather than go 82-76-70 leading up to the race I’m going to cut it down significantly to about 76-70-65. I had been concerned about overtraining as I embarked with this season. Hopefully I can get my legs back ASAP. I ran 4:39, 4:40, and then put on my flats and ran 4:45, 4:44. Weird, huh? Thankfully I was able to do some light power cleans today!

| | New shoes felt good. So did my achilles! And my knee felt a little better. I did some light squats. Four guys got cut this week. I feel bad for them, but it is SO nice to have people to run with, even though I'll still have to do a lot of front running if I am to reach my 14:10 goal in two weeks. I felt a little better today. I hope I continue to improve as I let my body rest more. I did a two mile tempo in 10:03, eight min rest, 2 by 800 w/ equal rest in 2:13, 2:13, then two 400s with 2 min rest in 62, 61.

| | 10 miles. It was supposed to max out in the high 30s but it felt great with the sun beating down. I did a few strides by doing a ten second jog to warmp up my knee. I'm grateful to have only run once today, hopefully the extra recovery pays off!

| | I am very proud of myself. I only ran 6:33 pace today! The Provo river trail is closed down a bit so I had to run out in the sticks a bit. It was nice.
