This run was very loosely 6:13 pace and very loosely 16 miles. It was a combination of a couple of things: being on break, I wasn't overly concerned about it being all "fast", plus the leaves have mostly fallen so I could better see the trail below the bluff, and finally, snow hasn't fallen yet, so the trail was visible. Basically, I spent way more time on the Winchell trail than ever before. It was really nice, of course. And hopefully this will benefit me even during the summer, now that I know trails exist where they do. The most significant one comes right after the railroad bridge (you can actually run under the bridge I think staying on the trail). It goes down to the river and goes for quite a while. The way to get out of it is the driveway that goes to the boating club. There is potential to go even further that I didn't experiment with though (basically, I don't want to have to climb back up the ridge like I did once with my team). I also stayed on the trail further than I have before at other times too. Overall, it's a highly soft-surfaced route if you do it like that.
I had high hopes for the new shoes after trying them on last night. The upper fits on like a glove, just like the Rides. Well, they aren't perfect, but I'm glad I have them. They are better than the shoes I am currently wearing.
