Short-Term Running Goals:

-Find some good local races to run that will motivate me to stay in shape.

Long-Term Running Goals:

-Run a few fast marathons. Grandma's, St. George, and Boston are on my target list.

-Stay fit for a very long time. I believe what goes into making a competitive runner at age 60 is much different than age 20, just like what goes into making a good marathoner differs from a good sprinter. I hope that by taking care of my body, I can be very fast for my age as I get older.

Personal:

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I live in the Twin Cities with my family and am an Epidemiology PhD Student. Running is the only hobby I have time for :)

Proud to support my uncle, cousin, and other cancer fighters by running the
Rex Lee run today. There's no way I'd pay $30 to run a race if it were for anything else! I won the 10K in 34:05, which takes 1:46 off my old 10K PR from the Freedom Run last July. My goal was to break 34, and I really could have if the last mile we weren't running with the 5K people. When I came in it was at 21 minutes for the 5K race, so it was a major pain getting by people that were that slow or even slower before that. On top of that I didn't know where to go because I got ahead of the police escort in the chaos. I knew my fitness had exploded since last July, even though I am doing the same mileage now as I was then and I was also doing workouts then. Overall I'm content because my last hard workout was in early January, excluding two hard long runs I've done the past two weeks. So, based on what I've been giving my running (not too much seriousness and just building up since my inactivity during my injury) I'm definitely satisfied. 5:30 pace on hills is solid enough.
