This ranks right up there with one of the worst races I've ever had. It takes the cake as the worst marathon I've ever had. First 16 miles were pretty good, then the last 10 I just fell apart. Legs cramped up and I got some good blisters. My PF issues flared up and so I was just trying to be as cautious as I could, which meant a lot of walking. I really didn't want to tear one of those.
Ok, sorry to start so negative, it was just not a good day for me. In fact running has been a struggle for me this entire year. It seems I've just been busy with so many other things. However, I keep reminding myself of an often heard quote "Runs end..but Running Never Does" so I'm sure I"ll keep coming back. As for marathons though I think I'm ready to give them a break. I've never really liked the distance to begin with and have really had a struggle with training for them and racing in them the last few years.
Ok enough of the bad attitude..I'll be back in a bit to post the splits later. I need to go eat I still haven't been able to keep anything down, been sick in bed all afternoon. I've lost 9 pounds since when I got up this morning.
Alright back to finish my post. Feeling better now was able to eat a meal and then I went to General Priesthood Session. What a great meeting, just when I was feeling down and not having a very good day, things changed listening to Church Leaders and all their great wisdom and counsel.
Ok race splits
Felt good at the start, fun seeing lots of friends. Highlight was getting to talk to Double D from 1210 Sports Radio. I wasn't interviewed or anything like that, but just fun to meet somebody in person for the first time, that you listen to on a daily basis on the radio, while crusing in the Driver's Ed car.

So there you go. Not a very good day, I was definitely humbled today by the marathon. However, I still consider myself very blessed to have the health and the desire to be able to participate in these types of events. Also very blessed to have agood friends and family that are always there to support and lift me up.
Finally, just have to mention to my St. George boys. Basketball season starts for me Monday. I think that has been my problem this year, not enough Basketball miles. |
