4 miles this morning.  Hip pain has returned.  I just signed up for the Run for Kids 10K, but not sure how to race it and try to get in some decent miles for the day.

Option 1- Run 12 miles over to the race from La Verkin, then do the 10K, then 2 mile cool-down (20 miles)

Option 2- Run the course as a warm-up 6 miles, then race the course 6 miles, then do a cool-down on the course 6 miles (18 miles)

Option 3- Short warm-up 2 miles, race hard 6 miles, Run home after the race (probably on tired legs) 20 miles.

Any ideas?

Slacker tonight, too busy watching the NCAA championship game.  I was really hoping Michigan State would win, but it wasn't even close.  In fact, I kept switching between the game and 24.

Good 7 mile run this morning. I ran over to the high school and back, which was 6, then decided to add the mile loop past the stake center and up along 100 East.

Pretty good workout tonight.  I decided to do 5x1000m @ CV pace with 2:00 min rest

2.5 mile warm-up

1-3:31 (5:39 pace) Felt easy

2-3:33 (5:42 pace) Too relaxed

3-3:27 (5:33 pace) Picked it up here and started to feel a little tired

4-3:26 (5:31 pace) Good repeat here

5-3:23 (5:26 pace) Gave myself an extra minute rest on the recovery, then pushed it hard, legs tired on this one.

1 mile cool-down home, then 2 miles easy after dinner with Sunny.

Overall, a good day of training.

Went and played basketball this morning. Hope to get in some miles tonight, legs feel pretty good after a big day yesterday.

Just an easy 3 miles tonight, wanted to be home in time to watch the Jazz game, plus wanted to recover a little from yesterday.

Ran over to the Hurricane Cemetery and back, easy 4 miles.

Ran 1 mile with Steve and Brett. Did 7 easy miles around the parkway.  I had to stop at the park in Washington to use the bathroom, didn't really feel that good today on the run.

Slept in this morning.  Did 8 miles tonight from the house over to the new Walmart, via 600 North trail.  Decided to throw in 2 miles of tempo, toward the end.  Nice and easy 6:23 and 6:24.  Should be interesting to see how the race goes tomorrow.

Really, wasn't feeling up for this race. I had a rough night sleeping and was a little tired and sick from doing a lot of yard work yesterday afternoon and then doing an 8 mile run late last night. When I woke up and heard it was raining I thought that would be a good enough excuse to miss the race. However, since I had paid the entry fee already, I forced myself to get out of bed and made it over to the race.

I did an easy 2 mile warm-up with Austin, a little bit with Bill and Steve

1-5:51 Feeling pretty good. Austin took off from the start, which I figured he would. Steve and I were running together.

2-5:35 Another good mile

3-6:05 A short hill in this section. Steve put about 5 seconds on me here

4-6:15 Start of the big hill, not really feeling like I'm in a race

5-6:53 This is the most difficult part of this race, pretty much uphill the entire mile.

6-6:21 Just cruising along. Steve is about 20 seconds ahead, but at this point I have no real desire to try to push the pace and catch him

.2-.40

Overall 37:42 (6:04 average) 3rd overall and second age group.

I wasn't disappointed with my time or place, but I really didn't feel like it was my best effort either. Anyway it was good to get in some quicker miles.

1 mile walk/jog cool down

One nice thing about the blog is I can go back and read my race reports from previous years. I didn't run this race last year because I was injured, but in 2007 I ran 37:34 with much better weather. Interesting my race, splits and attitude were all about the same in 2007.

2006 ran 38:40. so still a minute faster this year and I didn't even feel good.

Went out tonight and did 4 easy miles to put me right at 60 for the week. My body is telling me 60 miles a week right now is enough. I've really been bothered with hip/groin/SI joint problems again. Hopefully, some stretching tonight and tomorrow plus a day of rest will help. Ran in the new Speedstars tonight, they felt pretty good.
