The big news first is the fact I passed my mileage total from last year (1926) and I still have a month and a half left in 2008.  So I'm happy about that, and I'm actually feeling a little more healthy at this point compared to how I felt at this same time last year.  Don't have the hip pain bothering me as much as last year.

The race started out good, but finished poorly. Looking back I probably should not have ran this race. I'm not in very good shape, and I've been feeling sick and run down the last few days. Actually, been having some strange tingling feelings in my hands and arms the last few days, kind of strange. Hope with some extra rest over the weekend I'll feel better.

Did 1.25 mile warm-up

No real time goals going in, just wanted to try to run faster than last year.

1-5:09 Fast first mile and I was in 13th place, just trying to stay relaxed

2-5:19 Another fast downhill mile, pass a few guys and move into 8th

3-6:03

5K split 17:15- nice!

4-6:52 Going uphill on the dirt trail, I really don't like this section

5-6:57 Another uphill mile

6-6:12 Make the turn around and then start running back down the trail, trying to dodge people going in the other direction, some people weren't paying attention at all.

My 10K Split was almost the exact same time as my 10K race last week.

7- 6:44 Hip starting to bother me

8-6:03 Better mile

9-6:24 I think it was about this mile, that things really started falling apart. Mainly mentally, I think I had been in 7th and two guys passed me.

10-6:36 Really not feeling too good

11-6:55 Struggling through Entrada

12-7:03

13-8:10 I actually stopped and walked a few times on this mile, I really didn't want to but I was starting to get dizzy and started feeling more numbness and tingling in my arms and hands. I think I was in 8th place up until this place, but then got passed by a few guys when I slowed down.

.1- 13

My Garmin had the distance measured at 13.03

Overall time was 1:24:45 (6:28 pace). Last year I ran 1:26:11. the course was just a little different but I don't think it was any harder, if anything I think this year's course might have been a bit slower.

I wasn't that pleased with my time, but considering the shape I'm in right now and feeling a little on the sick side I'll just be happy that I finished this race.

At this point, I'm a little burnt out on running, so probably no more races until the new year. I've been really busy with some other things right now, so I will continue to train when I can and when I feel like it. I do need to lose a few pounds, even though I didn't take a lot of time off after the marathon, I've sure put on the weight fast in the last month.

Great job on the race, I hope that the numbness goes away for you. I have been burnt out on running too. I have also gained a lot of weight. I have taken my blog off so that only I can see it. Not to be a jerk or anything just kind of ashamed of my running-"training" since the marathon. If we make it to St. George in the next couple of months we can go out on a training run and cry on each other's shoulder. j/k Good job on the top 10 finish and 2nd in age group.

No races until the new year is a good idea. Just try to get in some easy mileage and maintain some good fitness.

Good job today.

Good job for not really being ready for the race, you still beat the time from last year!

Since you passed your mileage from last year, the rest of this year is just gravy!

Dustin,

Sorry you weren't as thrilled with the race as you had hoped, but MAN ALIVE ... you did AWESOME!!!

It was fantastic meeting you, and I appreciated the advice.

Congrats on top 10 and #2 in your division. Very nice!!!

You were motivated to show up and that's all that matters. Very good race for not really training for it and not feeling well. Good luck the rest of the year. Enjoy the Holiday food weight's not everything if you focus on it too much and not enjoy the Holiday's eating. :-)

Hey Dustin, Great job - for the amount of running thats been going on. You always seem to pull off decent race times.

Great job. I ran by you at the turn around (actually you ran by me:). I recognized you from your blog picture and I think I met you at the Blog party. Anyway, great race and I hope you feel better.

Pretty sure numbness is a bad thing. Hopefully that won't last long! Good job on your race!
