Well this was a positive race for me this morning. I've run this race only one time before back in 2006. In 2006 I ran 34:49, so I was really hoping to be close to that or faster. At the beginning of the year I set a few goals. One was to break 17:00 in a 5K and the other was to break 34:00 in a 10K. I knew for either of those things to happen I would probably need to find a fast downhill course. I missed out on running the Utah Summer games races so decided that today would be a good day to shoot for the sub 34.

Everything went good and I was able to kill two birds with one stone. I went through the 5K in 16:34 and finished the 10K in 33:49. I feel pretty good that I was able to improve by 1 minute since 2006. I was also happy considering I ran most of this race alone in second place. Ryan took off from the start and had a 5 second gap on me the first mile and kept increasing it a little each mile. He ended up running in the low 33's I think 33:04. I think the course was just a tad short, or at least measured different than the tangents we ran.

Not too happy that I missed the Fun Run this year, heard it was pretty good. Won the 5K last year, but I was on vacation with the fam in Oregon this year. Great job.
