I used to hate these Mizuno Elixers but now they are my favorites. Is that weird? They gave me blisters but now I have callouses so that isn't a problem. As the shoe got older my right foot started to slide to the left, threatening to fall off the sole. I tightened laces a little near the bottom and this problem was fixed. I've also been working on my form so that has helped with that problem. So now this shoe has almost 800 miles on it and it's still going strong. I guess it took a few miles to get it broken in. I haven't run this many miles on a weekday non-long-run in a while. It felt good. My ankle felt good as well, almost no pain. When I have a full day's rest in between runs it has a chance to really recover. I need it to start recovering faster so it isn't rough running on consecutive days. I need to bump my running days up to 5 per week in preparation for Utah Valley. This 9 makes up for my wimpy 5 on Tuesday. I'll run 14 on Saturday and get in my scheduled 34 miles. |
