Steady moderate rain (at periods heavy) on the first 2/3rds of the run today giving way to steady light rain. My quad is still quite bruised. Lots of reasons to bail out, but still in the 40s for January, but I'll take it.

| Streets and sidewalks were slushy today, so instead of risk a potential slip, I hit the dreadmill. I'm writing this 2 days later and the irony is I irritated my ankle somehow. I hate dreadmills and mostly only use them to do progressive threshold work. Started at 7:50/mile and increased the pace by 10s/mile every 1/2 mile. Did this down to a 6:40, quick cool down, 5 minute break and then did it again starting at 7:30/mile. I also have a theory about dreadmills that I will post on the discussion board under that topic. The short of it is I believe that a given pace on a treadmill is more difficult aerobically than the same pace on the road. |
