I want to enjoy the rest of my life and to make the most of it.  I believe that staying physically fit is a big part of that.  I want to continue to run for the rest of my life and enjoy it.

Personal:

I'm from good ol' Hurricane, UT, but I currently live in Glendale, AZ where I am attending medical school at Midwestern University.  I am married with 1 kid at the moment.  I love to run, and despise treadmills, but here they are currently a necessity.

Today's run was supposed to be 16 miles, but I ran out of gas before I got all the way back.  I tried the Gu, but I honestly didn't notice any difference.  I think I would be better off with just Gatorade.  If anyone has any opinions on this, I would like to hear them.

The run was pretty good though.  Time wasn't amazing, I ran in about 2 hours 10 minutes, but that was due to a lot of walking the last mile or so.  I gave it everything until every muscle in my body had tightened up.

One cool thing, today marks the first time I have put in over 26.2 miles in a week.  It is also the highest week I have ever had.  It's been pretty good overall.

Did you see my comments of a few weeks ago on the last mention you had about Gu? Fueling is not at all a one-size-fits-all thing (which is kind of a pain sometimes). I personally have better luck with the liquid variety or gummies like Shot Bloks or Chomps. My advice is to try a lot of different things over the coming weeks. Additionally, Gu and stuff won't "feel" like it makes a difference until you are depleting your body in the same way that it will be in the race, if that makes any sense. Your run today could have been anything from temperature related to what you ate last night to an electrolyte problem (separate issue from fueling), or just a plain old unexplainable bad day, but I'm guessing at 12 miles you probably didn't technically run out of fuel, so the Gu probably wouldn't have made a lot of noticeable difference. Just keep trying stuff. If you want any suggestions of products I probably have a few things kicking around in my bag where I put all the race goodies I get that I could let you have. In the race you'll have gatorade every 2 miles, plus whatever you bring along. I usually just do the gatorade, plus I take a pack of Shot Bloks in case of emergency but rarely use them, but that's what works for me. May not work for you.
