I gained 30 lbs. during the service and came back out of shape; however I knew that if the Lord wanted me to once again run competitively, he would bless me to return to fitness.
I graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. I currently run for Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Favorite Blogs: |

| | Warm up, then 2X(200m at mile pace, then 600m tempo, then 300m sprint, with no recovery in between the 200m, 600m, and 300m.) with a full recovery in between the two reps. Ran 29s for the 200s, and 1:47-48 for the 600m, then 43 and 44 for the 300s. I'm a bit dissapointed in the 300s, but with the races last weekend, I should not complain. After I ran a cool down with the team.
6 miles easy later. I'm racing the 800m at region, for the second time this season. I want a sub-2, but I don't know if I can get it.

| | Meet got canceled and moved to tomorrow. So I'll be running the 1600, then the 800, then the 3200m. I've got to focus on that 800. I'm okay with it though, because I had an AP test today and I was pretty mentally drained from that.

| Race: |
Region 5 (1 Miles) 00:04:19, Place overall: 1, Place in age division: 1 | | Quick report: All the plans for my races didn't go at all like I wanted, but I still did well. 1st in 1600-4:19(splits: 67, 66, 64, 62) 2nd in 800-1:59(splits per 200 were 31, 29, 29, 30), and 1st in 3200-9:45 I think(Splits per mile were 5:00 and 4:45). Interesting day.
Shakeout, then a break before doing a warm up before the mile. My plan was to stay on someone until 800 or 1000 meters into it, and then make a move. Well, we got out and Thomas started to lead it. I got around him, and the pace felt slow. I didn't want a repeat of Cache-Box, so when I heard the 200m split(33) I tried to just stay relaxed. I was 67, and I pushed the effort a little more, and we came across the 800 at about 2:13-2:14. I made a move here, and Tanner Blaylock just seemed to not be effected. Here, I was probably making a few mistakes(goal was to conserve energy and go for the win), and pushed into the wind. I haven't hurt this much in a race, I was very surprised it hurt so much. I heard 3:17 at the 1200m, and tried to sprint. I could here Tanner, and thought he was right there the whole way. With 200 left I looked back and saw I had him, so I kinda cruised in a little with 50m left. I heard 4:18, but it seems the clock is always a second slower than what I hear.
Cool down, 30 min. rest, then warm up for the 800. There have been 8 guys in our region that had broken 2 minutes before, but only 6 were racing today. My coach put me in for a 1:59, so I was seeded 4th or 5th with that. The gun went off, and I had prepared mentally for the race to be fast and hurt the whole way. Everyone closed in way quick, but I held strong. Tyson clipped me on accident and said sorry, but I let him get ahead of me. It felt slow that first 100. I ran around everyone, and tried to make it faster. This was not the plan. I wanted to sit on someone and hopefully they'd bring me to a 1:59 flat or a top-4 finish. (2 of the guys that had broken 2 had run the 400 right before, so I knew I had a very good shot at top-4) We came across the 200m at a high 30 or 31. After this I just opened up and tried to make sure it hurt. We were about 60 for the first 400, and I just kept kicking, thinking everyone was right behind me. With 250 left someone was hitting my spike, so I knew was probably slowing down. At 200 to go, I saw it was Justin and he apologized(while he passed me). I also looked back and saw we had 30 meters on everyone else. This was really surprising(It ended up that the pack had gotten pushed so far together, that some people couldn't get positioned, and it was just a mess, so no one ended up going with us.), but since I had a top-4 spot I just tried to finish, because I did not have enough energy to catch Justin, and I had enough room on everyone else that I didn't need to kill myself the last 200. So, I got qualified and ran a 1:59.85.
2 hours later, the 3200 started. I saw Kyler get out fast, so I got ahead to pace him to a top-4 finish. With 3 laps to go the pack started to catch us, so I made a move to break away, and Kyler fell back after this. I finished in 9:45, about 10 seconds ahead of second place.
After a cool down with Ethan.

| | Warm up, then 2X300m all out, then 4x200m at mile pace/effort. Alex, Ethan, and I complained about the 300s, but we hit 41 or 42 on the first one, and 41 on the second one, then we hit 30, 29, 29, 30 on the 200s. Cool down after.
5 easy later.

| | Was planning on 10, but during it I thought it'd be better for state to run 8 today. It was really rainy all morning, but when I went outside for my run the clouds just bearly moved and I got a run full of sunshine.
