2019 Running Schedule

Feb - Mesa Phoenix Marathon (AZ): 2:37:45. Lingering flu didn't help, but I still got a PR.

April - Bonneville Shoreline Trail Marathon (UT). Mostly just going to be a training run. Finally got myself into the sub-4 club last year, so I'll just have fun with it this year.

May - Stillwater Half Marathon (MN). Goal race for Spring. Looking for ~1:12.

October- Chicago Marathon (IL). We'll see where I'm at in Fall, but probably will be looking for low 2:30s.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy, make improvements, maximize my potential.

Personal:

I am a bioengineering PhD currently working as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Utah, where I design and improve neurosurgical approaches for treating movement disorders.

Summer 2018 update: I'm lazy about copying over from Strava, so find me over there for day-to-day runs until I eventually get around to copying everything over here.

You're really fit right now bro. Nice work.

Thanks! This consistency has been paying off!

Staying healthy has been your key. Congrats on that. That is always the trick. Find your limit without going over it. I am obviously still learning how to not go over it.

It really is frustrating, because my limit would be higher without this annoying hip thing that just hasn't wanted to go away 100% for the last 19 months. That said, keeping my mileage primarily in the 70s has kept me really fresh, so I've probably been getting more out of my workouts. It's too bad that the weather will be terrible at the 10k tomorrow; I figure I'm in PR shape, even at altitude, but it's all about the marathon, so that's ok.

From Dave Olson on Fri, Feb 07, 2014 at 13:30:14 from 66.87.127.32

Its not all about the marathon. Riley and I have been discussing hitting the track again this summer. Get some new PRs. The 10K and the 5k are no less hard than the marathon. Just different. They both hurt just in a different way.

Haha yeah, well, I care a lot more about the marathon right now. :) Once I can get under that magic 6:00 pace for the marathon, then I'll change my focus for a bit.

Well good luck on your goal. I know if you keep this up you'll see that goal crushed!

Thanks! I won't be quite going for that this time (gunning for sub-2:40), but probably next time out!
