Trail Run - Today Jon, Paul and I braved the snow and cold temps to experience The Bonneville Shoreline trail from Paul's house to Logan Canyon. It was a success. The snow started to get deeper and slippery by the second half and that really slowed the pace. That and the slowness, right. Nothing makes a run slower than adding some slowness. Nevermind. We dropped Paul off at his warm and dry home while we ventured back out for more miles. We headed up his street to the canal trail. Followed that a while, ran down a street and voila, we were at the mouth of Birch Canyon. We ran on the dirt road up the canyon for about a mile, but it got progressively slippery-er (is that a word?). After a while, it was a pure ice sheet covered with an inch of new snow. It was a minefield. I feared for our lives. We attempted a random trail off-shoot but was quickly deterred. Lets get out of here. During our escape, I decided to test the grippiness of my shoes, but was quickly humbled as I slid on my hip a few feet down the road. That road is not runnable until you get a thick layer of snow over that ice. Anywho, we added on more mileage on the canal trail until Jon was satisfied with our run. T-3:06 (8:43) 21.25 miles
