Long run with Jon and Paul.  Paul took us on a tour of the famous Hyde Park Hill.  Nasty.  My legs are pretty tired after jumping from the mid 50's to 75 miles this week, plus this long run is 4 more than I have done this year to date.  I survived it, but it wasn't anything special.  No heroric effort or anything.  It was good to run with the guys though.  I was feeling a bit of tendonitis in my previous injury spot yesterday during the day, but it felt fine today.  I will have to watch it close this next week to make sure it is ok.  In all, it was a good week of training.  I feel like I can put together a good half marathon at this point, but not a full.  But I still have time for that...a bit.

The best part of today though is that it is BETHANY and LILY's (my daughter) birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Have a fun time celebrating today.

Nice long run. Getting the endurance in will definitely be a benefit with the hard workouts you've done during the week.\

Question:

I know you were doing some aqua-jogging last year. Did you find that it kept your fitness up as close to what running would do?

I've heard it's the closest thing to keeping your running fitness up when your injured.

Kory-

I am glad you are FINALLY going to take care of your injury and get it healed. Very smart choice with the aqua jogging. It was very helpful in maintaining fitness. I hate to lose fitness and lose all the hard work I have put in, but sometimes it is beneficial to let your body recover then hit it hard again (after more than just one week) and when you come back you are stronger than before (even stronger than you could've been by trying to maintain the high level the whole time). Talk to Paul about that. Don't be afraid to take off a few weeks of running (while replacing running with aqua jogging) as it will be the best for you in the long run. Go back and read some of my pool workouts from last summer. Lots of Fartlek.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
