Recovery run.

5:19 am, 49° F, 69% humidity, winds calm.

I'm still in Foster City, CA.  I go home this evening.

If there's one thing this training plan has taught me, it's how to run slowly. It says "recovery run" on the training plan, and I slow down. So I had a fairly pleasant easy run this morning.

I saw a few people out, more than I saw yesterday. But people don't seem to be very friendly. In Colorado, when you pass another runner or walker, you often, but not always, give some kind of acknowledgment. No one even made eye contact here.

As for yesterday's lunch, we went to this place that is like The Cheesecake Factory, but without the cheesecake. It was okay. Nothing exciting.

The trip has been nice enough, but I'll be glad to go home tonight.

AP: 10:15. Splits: 10:29, 10:16, 10:20, 10:14, 9:59.

It is always interesting to run in different places especially with the friendliness or lack of in other runners. My grandparents live in Alberta Canada. When I run there everyone says hello with direct eye contact. It is always that way and more friendly then I am used to and I consider myself a friendly person. I am glad you had a 5 mile recovery run, that sounds nice.

Nice run :) I hope you showed themand said HI to all of them ;)

To wave, or not to wave...that is the question.

My friendliness factor goes down as I run. When I'm exhaused toward the end (sometimes middle) of a run, I'm so focused on the run that I don't even realize I'm being rude & not saying hello.

I run into someone else on my loop about 5 times a year (when doing my am run). I'm pretty sure it's the same person- but it's dark & hard to tell.

I envy those of you who live near and often run with or into friends while you're out. It's just me, the bunnies, whipporwills, robins, bats, and the moon most of the time.

Nice recovery paces today. Have a safe trip home!

When I ran in Vegas last summer they were a bit too friendly and I got my bottom smacked as I ran through an intersection. It was not by another runner. LOL

Nice recovery run today! Have a safe trip home :)

Oooh. A "friendly" butt smack would be interesting every once in a while (just kidding).

Brazilian steakhouse would have been so much better, so a big BOOOOOOOO to whoever vetoed that. The Cheesecake Factory without the cheesecake sounds unexciting.

It would just be The Factory. What a crappy name for a restaurant.

I am so impressed by your pace on your easy days! I am not as good at it as you are, but really have learned to see the value in it; it really makes those recovery days all about recovery. Once I am back to doing hard running workouts, I am going to try extra hard to keep the easy days easy!

Most runners I see in the winter are friendly - I think they are commiserating with fellow runners over the blizzard conditions! Seems like there are fewer friendly runners during the warmer months. Hope you had fun with your California running, and best of luck with your 10K race tomorrow!!!
