Really slow run + 8 x 8-sec. hill sprints.

7:07 am, 62-70° F, 67% humidity, winds calm, partly cloudy.

I was really sluggish this morning. Maybe the hot six wore me out more than I thought yesterday. Six normally isn't that hard.

I saw 3 or 4 sets of sprinklers in the first mile, but I skipped them because I wasn't really hot yet. Then by the third mile I was really wishing for sprinklers. My wish was granted at the end of the third mile. That was it for sprinklers except that after my run was finished, before I did my stretching, I walked through my next-door neighbor's sprinklers. I didn't lie down in them this time.

I saw Barbie again while I was doing the hill sprints, but she walked past the bottom of my hill while I was further up on the hill, so I didn't talk to her this time. Also, she was with a man today. He didn't look much like Ken. Every time I've seen her before she's been alone.

I stopped my watch between hill sprints this time. In the past, I've let it run during my walks down the hill between hill sprints. So this made my average pace a little bit higher than it would have been otherwise (but it is still pitifully slow). It also made it easier for me to count the hill sprints as fast miles because I knew that everything over 4 miles was part of a hill sprint. In the past, I've dumped the hill sprints in slow miles because it was too much trouble to add up the distance on them.

AP: 10:08. Splits: 11:07, 10:15, 9:52, 9:59. Pace on hill sprints: 7:06, 6:23, 6:54, 6:56, 7:22, 6:22, 6:35, 6:37.

Your hill sprints are always so impressive! I just can't motivate myself to move that fast uphill :) Nice work Carolyn!

RAD, you could move at least that fast uphill if you only had to do it for 8 seconds.

That hot six will get you every time.

You need to find some commercial sprinkler action. Like at a school yard or something. Those big industrial sprinklers would probably soak you head to toe.

While I was doing the hill sprints, I could see the big commercial sprinklers going in the infield of the middle school track, but I was about done with my workout and so I didn't want to run over there.

next time you have speed work, do it at the middle school track :-)

Nice workout today!
