Easy run.

6:10 am, 28-30° F, 49% humidity, winds calm, sunny.

I checked the temperature when I got up this morning and it says 27. It was dark outside at that point and I got a little freaked out and forgot that it was April and thought it was January and put on my two warmest shirts. Mistake. I really didn't need the wool shirt this morning. I got very hot and had a little sweat fest. Since we don't have actual heat in the mornings around here right now, maybe I can get some heat acclimation by over dressing for the cool temperatures.

I had some more ideas about the project I'm doing at work while I was running. I'm really interested in this project. I'm having to learn some new skills to do it and it's lots of fun. I debated getting up and working this morning instead of running, with plans to run later in the day, but then I decided I better get the run done first thing.

I had a little pain in my knee after running on Saturday, and my quad has been tight the past week or so. But I put KT tape on my knee after my run on Saturday and had it taped all weekend. Some old lady noticed the red tape on my leg at church yesterday. In any case, both my knee and my quad felt fine during and after my run today. When I stretched after, I could feel a little tightness in my quad, but not nearly as bad as it as been.

Nice pace there at the end! Glad the taping helped with your quad.

I really think that the hardest part of this time of year is trying to figure out what to wear for a run. Sometimes I'm like you and I get scared into wearing more clothes than necessary when I know that the temp is lower (for me in the 30s or 40s; I can't believe that it's in the 20s in the mornings there!). Then I regret it. I am trying to get better about remembering that a temperature that would be chilly if I'm just standing outside usually isn't that chilly if I'm working up a "sweat fest."

I had the exact opposite experience yesterday ... it was sunny and about 45F when I got out of the door. So, I wore shorts and a sleeveless shirt (I figured I would be running hills and get warm in the sun). Well, there was a pretty significant wind, that was super cold. My hands were cold for the first 1/2 of the run and then once I got a little warm I headed back into the headwind and froze ... yikes. After 2 weeks of 90F we had a high of 50 yesterday. Sounds warm to you I know, but after two weeks of nearly 100, it doesn't take much to feel cold ;-).

Spring is fun though - except what is with the freaking birds that start singing at 3AM??

Glad your knee & quad are feeling better and you got a great run in, despite weather mis-information.

I want MR to learn how to apply the KT tape for me so I can use it.

I just find videos on the internet of the how to apply KT tape for certain kinds of injuries. I watch the video and then do it myself the best I can.

Nice work getting the run done first. I know for me if I put it off sometimes it never gets done. Glad your quad and knee are working with you as well!
