Easy run.

6:08 am, 33° F, 53% humidity, winds calm.

I confirmed my suspicion about why I can't run as fast as I used to. I stepped on the scale last night. I knew I had gained weight, but I didn't realize how much. I've gained 25-30 pounds since I ran the Newport Marathon last June. I really need to get serious about weight loss again. I tried keeping a food journal last Monday, but I only made it through lunch and then I felt apart in the afternoon and evening. That's typical for me. I do pretty well in the morning. The problem comes later in the day. But maybe my publicly declaring my failures here on the blog will help me to be more disciplined and accountable. I've got consistent running going again now. I've got to focus on my diet now.

In the good news department, I ran the same route today that I ran on Monday and I was just a little bit faster today.

When Dorsimus first started training for his sprint-tri last year he put his starting weight on the outside of his cubicle. Each week he'd put his new weight (good or bad)below the previous week. Over 12 weeks he lost 42 lbs. Putting yourself out there publicly adds a strong sense of accountability and can really help. Kudos to you for being brave enough to do it. Many, in fact most, people are not.

Oh, and you need to change your title. You are back and in a big way. You definitely aren't starting over any more. Way to put on the miles this week.

I agree with jun. You're definitly back & ready for a new blog title.

I'm not brave enough to post my weight. Keeping a food journal is a powerful way to re-train yourself to eat better, but it is tedious and I find it depressing. It's worked for me in the past when I've been serious & dedicated. What ever you decide to do, good luck & have fun running!

-nice miles today :-)

Nice week you got going.

I'm impressed by your candor. I think that diet is one of the hardest things to change. Good luck with your journey. Maybe you can keep a food journal and post it every day to see if it helps you. We won't judge you!

Thank you all for your encouragement.

I didn't have the guts to post my actual weight, just the change over the last 10 months. I don't want to post a food journal. But I've resolved to weigh myself once a week and so maybe each time I do I'll post the change from the previous week (+ or -). Or maybe I'll get really gutsy and post my actual weight once a week. We'll see.

I like your idea of just (+/-). That's something I might consider doing too.

Waiting to see what new blog title you come up with..you've always got clever ones.

From Tracy on Wed, Mar 30, 2011 at 15:14:54 from 209.175.177.37

It wouldn't bother me to post my weight so much because I don't fluctuate that much. But it would be embarrassing for me to post a food journal. I think I'd make myself sick writing down all the food I eat between 4:30 and 7 p.m., but I think that's probably the point :)

You have shown a lot of self-discipline n the past, so I am sure you will be back to your 'old' self (but newer) in no time!! Good luck CinC and good job on the running!
