Just could not get out of bed this morning so I had to get all the miles in this afternoon.

Left my house and went up to the new on ramp in Washington then over it up to the water tank that over looks the freeway above Coral. Then made my way down that mesa to the main road and ran it down into Washington and turned north to go under the freeway and then back home.

Didn't push it at all- just want to get some miles in the next few weeks.

Week goal is 80 or so.

6.5 miles this morning golf course loop

6.6 miles this afternoon track workout

The morning run was just an easy run 6:50 pace.

This afternoon I got to the track and there was alot of people there but I didn't know any of them. So I jogged a couple miles warm up. Then Bill showed up and I talked to him then ran two more miles at 6:00 pace. Then Steve came and we decided to do some timed miles.

The first one was fast, too fast. I felt like I was pushing it and just kept hammering it out against the cold headwind. Right before I started the last lap I looked at my watch to see where I was at and I had not restarted the time when we started. It just started on top of my warm up miles... but the pace said 4:30 I know I didn't run the whole thing that fast but just guessing I was around 5:05. With the wind that wasn't bad.

Then I felt crappy and told Steve I was done with these- he made me run one more. So I said I would just run it slow and try to stay with him. So I did and drafted off him for 3 1/2 laps then passed him in the last 150 or so. Time on this one was 5:17 and Steve was like 3 seconds back.

Kind of fun to go see where I'm at but the stroy says I need to do alot of work.

8.2 miles this morning on the water tank/ industrial loop

6.2 miles this morning on the dirt loop

On the morning run I ran the first three and a half as a warm up- up to the water tank then ran 6 min pace back home.

Tonight I went out on my all dirt/sand/slick rock trail loop. I wore a garmin but only to check the distance. I tried to enjoy the run and not look at the pace.

6.5 miles in the morning around the golf course loop

7.2 this afternoon with club

Morning run was easy with no Garmin to tempt me to race the 6:30 guy.

Afternoon run was slow as well. Did a loop around Red Hills GC and back up to the running store. We started out way slow and on the trails it was slower. I did 200 jumping jacks along the way. After we hit the street I picked it up to 6 min pace to finish the last 3 or so miles. Avg pace per mile on the whole run was 7:17. It was fun to be out running with the club again after a winter off.

The loop was 6.5 miles then when Steve got back he wanted to jog the parking lot. So I did another .7 miles always on the run with the kids.

Fun with the club this morning. Most of the run was nice and easy. the last two miles we picked the pace up a little. Hit the last mile at around 5:40 pace.

Now for my sad little story...

After the run we all chatted in the parking lot for a few- and then went on our way. While I was gettting on the freeway I and approching around 70 mph I though I saw a bird hit my windsheild. I kept driving for about a quarter mile down the freeway and realized what had just happend. I had left my garmin sitting by my windshield wiper and when I got up to speed on the road it flew up and off my car. I parked along side the road and ran back down there hoping to find it- I did- only now it was in like seven chuncks with microchips and broke plastic everywhere. Sucks. Hope to get a new one soon. After running and training with one I could never go back to not having one.
