Morning club run with Steve and Bill. Bill had to cut out early. We ran from the running store around the back of Snow Canyon and up through the park until we hit the marathon course- then down to the store.

9 miles up, 8 miles down.

9 up was in 1:08:13 and was 7:34 min/ mile pace

After we got to the top I waited a few for Steve and we got some water he had stashed and I took a GU and then it was time to start the tempo. Here we go.

8 miles down was 42:47 and 5:20 min/ mile pace

Splits

1. 5:23

2. 5:14

3. 5:34

4. 5:17

5. 5:21

6. 5:24

7. 5:16

8. 5:13

Was very pleased with this workout. The first 9 miles were a pretty hard uphill and then I turned it over really well comming down. Actually didn't feel that fast. I don't know if I've ever did a workout with this kind of speed. Last week was @ 5:42 pace and I was happy with it. Hopefully I'll be ready to go sub 1:08 at Hobble Creek half.

Only did .3 cool down and then walked around the parking lot too.

Clyde - good job on the run this morning. I'm thinking I'm really liking that loop. That hill through Snow Canyon just keeps going up & up. Thanks for pushing me up it.

5:20 average for 8 miles? Awesome!

Beautiful workout! Man I wish I was there with you for this one.

From Superfly on Sat, Aug 11, 2007 at 16:31:25

Dave you got a pretty good workout yourself.

Great week of running Clyde. Awesome workout today.

Clyde--this workout is the real deal Holyfield. I don't care if it was downhll or not--racking up 8 miles on 5:20 pace at the end of a 17 mile run with the mileage you've been putting in on a weekly basis is big time.

Great workout, man you are smokin' right now!

Was this off Garmin, or off St. George mile marks. If off the mile marks, which mile did you start at?

From Superfly on Mon, Aug 13, 2007 at 20:15:49

Sasha this was off Garmin so I guess it could be off a little? I started the tempo right at the base of were you come off the hill by the Snow Canyon park turn off. Just about 3 miles up the road from the top of the Winchestor Hill.

To get to eight miles I had to extend it down to the corner of Bluff Street and Sunset.

What do you think of this workout as far as my Hobble Creek goal times?

From Sasha Pachev on Tue, Aug 14, 2007 at 16:19:26

Assuming Garmin got the distance right, I would say you can run 1:07-1:08 in Hobblecreek. Also, I think in St. George you should go out with the OTQ standard B group, along with Dave and Logan. If you die you die, but it sure would be disappointing to run 2:23 with a huge negative split. If you run 2:26 after hitting the first half on pace, or even if you get dropped around Veyo, and never recover, at least you will know you did not have a qualifier in you that day, and no regrets, you've done your honest best.
