Did the Utah hill run down to Mike's house. Thanks to him and his wife for driving us out and watering us at the finish. We started out and I was just going to run nice and easy around the same pace I've been running. But Bill and Ken took off and then Steve started to work up to them and I was with him. So we started to hit 6 min pace and then 5:30 and next thing I knew for a short time we were at 4:55 on the downhill as we passed Bill and Ken. Not the smartest thing to do since I haven't ran anything fast since last fall. I was thinking at around mile 7 that there was no way I would be able to keep rolling... but we got in a nice little groove and still hit 6 min pace until we pulled up into the cool down. It felt really good to run faster again. The hammy was tight and might be really tight tomorrow but it never had any sharp painful signs. So we'll see how it goes. Glad that I got out and glad I got some turnover for once. If I don't feel too bad in the days to come maybe I'll start trying a faster workout every 10 days or so and see where it takes me. Finished the run at an avg of 6:40 min mile pace. |
