DC/ River road loop. Fever was gone this morning and sinus area was less congested so I went out. I got a horrible nights rest though. Legs felt overly flat leaving me mentally and physically in a bad running funk. Not going into a race on my terms that's for sure. Outside of being sick my legs aren't turning over like they need to. Last weeks speed workout with Dave and Logan was basically pathetic. Now I feel that way every time I run... just working too hard to turn the legs over. Anyways I'm really frustrated right now and need to vent it all out. I'm hoping a magical wand hits my legs and at least takes me back to three weeks ago or so when I had a little confidence. Because right now there is zero.

4.4 miles this afternoon. Mik'L had a busy day at the office and wasn't going to be home early enough to watch Myler so I took him in the jogger. We ran over to the park on a extended route then once there I did some barefoot in the five fingers. I wanted to work on form as everything feels totally out of whack. It was kind of counter productive because I was also pushing the stroller on the grass field... but it was nice to just get out and relax a little. Finally pushing all of the sick symptoms out today but the legs feel like they belong to a beginning runner. I couldn't have broke 4 hours today if I had to run a marathon.

Hang in there, you still have time to get healthy. Sometimes the only way the body can get us to rest is by getting sick so rest up. You have done all the hard work now just trust that work and get healthy.

Clyde,

You have done the workouts, the long miles, the speed workouts and everything in between. You will do great! Focus on the positives of your training. I know the feeling that you are going through because that is how I feel most of the time. I compare myself to all of you great runners and get very depressing.

I know that I shouldn't but I do- Now I am starting get in a groove that is mine, nobody else's and I feel much better. This feeling crappy will pass and you will rock the marathon...in that I have no doubt!

If I were you, I would probably either rest or just run a few miles Friday. Then if you were better Saturday, I would get in normal mileage. After resting up over the weekend, hit a few 5-8 mile runs next week with a few MP pace miles thrown in Tuesday. The MP miles should help you feel fast again. If that doesn't work, throw in some strides to shake off the rust.

Thanks guys. As far as workouts go I'm just going to play it by ear every day on in. I run my best when I'm running... so best case is for me to be able to run some solid mileage between now and Tuesday and then taper it off. I need a steroid injection in my brain.

Clyde you have put in the mileage and the time and the workouts, you have to have faith and rely on your training! Quit being so hard on yourself, pull up your bootstraps and get after it! Your a stud so just go out and get it done! I'll be at the finish line watching you guys so I don't want any whiners:) Just Do It!

Like what all these guys have already said, just get over being sick and you will be good. Just get well before I come down to stay with you and get the bad mojo out of the house by then, would ya?!!

Hang in there, you have train well and hard and it will pay off.

Thanks again guys. I had a little better day as the sickness is going away. Hopefully I can talk the legs into coming back home in the next couple days too.
