Did it, what a great challenge!!
Ramp up my weekly mileage.
PR at the St. George Marathon in 2009. Didn't make the Lottery. Doing the Top Of Utah instead. It's a 4:30 minute tougher race. I Still hope to PR!!
Long-Term Running Goals:
-Be a life time runner for the love of running. Mix it up. Try something new. Do a full Iron Man.
Personal:
Married for 11 years!! I have 3 daughters. My wife runs marathons as well. I'm a park ranger.
9 mile run this morning at 5:00 am. Going to the big city of SLC today!! We don't get out much. Us country folk don't know how to act when we're in town. We'll be doing shopping for the next month and a half.
Sorry I missed you while you were in the "big city". That is great that you and your wife split the training that way, is she also on the blog? Good luck at working up to that Ironman. I'm sure I will look at it again. But right now I'm time and money limited to work on triathlons at the level I would like to compete at.
p.s. I do have a confession, I first came to your blog because you were topping the mileage board and the whole discussion on biking vs. running mileage came up (http://fastrunningblog.com/forum/index.php/topic,348.0.html). But I'm glad I did and I wish you the best success in both your pursuit of a 2:29 marathon and an Ironman...
No, my wifes not on the blog. I don't know if I'll ever reach the 2:29 marathon goal, I haven't been training for it, so I doubt I ever well, but I'm having fun tri training right now.
Biking is by no means as hard as running. I can do a 45 miler on a bike and be fresh and ready to go the next day. A 45 mile bike ride feels like a 10 mile run to my body.
Never count out the 2:29. The tri training may help strengthen muscles and take you to a new level. I ran in high school and college and even after all that training only managed 2:45-55 in the marathon for the first 5 years out of college. However, after a couple years of consistent higher mileage training I've even started to beat my college PRs and break 2:40 and for the first time can truly see a 2:29. I hope that your obvious dedication to training will also pay off.
