Half-marathon: 1:41:41, 8/28/2010 Short-Term Running Goals: Now that I'm (almost for sure) done having all the babies, I'm working on building consistency and seeing how fast I can get in my old age. ;) Long-Term Running Goals: I'd like to be a healthy and relatively injury-free runner for the rest of my life. Personal: I'm married to Eric (Faceless Ghost on the blog) and we have very active daughters and one dog. I have a PhD in sociology and demography, and I'm incredibly grateful to have work that is meaningful and that builds on my academic experience. I run because it makes me feel strong and it helps to keep the crazy away (there is a long history of abuse and mental illness in my extended family). Favorite Blogs: |

3 miles with a neighbor. Out and back on some road. A little slower than normal, but still enjoyable. A few hours later I'm feeling like I want to run some more. Maybe I'll go out with Elliott later today. Maybe I should bump things up to 4 a day. Maybe I should just shoot for every day. |

| | Didn't get out of bed in time to do more before Eric needed to leave. Felt good to be outside, though, even if it was short. |

| | Got new shoes - the New Balance Minimus that Eric loves. Decided on a size last night (after letting two pairs sit in the unopened box for about a month and a half) and ran in them this morning to solidify my decision. Got out of bed a little earlier this morning than yesterday, so had time for two miles before I had to be back. Maybe tomorrow I'll be even better. Since I knew I was just doing 2, I pushed a bit and was about a minute per mile faster than yesterday. It feels nice to feel my leg muscles. |

| | I went out for 3 with my neighborhood friend. She had a stroller so our pace was pretty slow, so when I got back I asked Eric if he wanted to go out for another 3 (he had already had his hard run this morning and had just showered, so he was really nice to come out (and push Elliott in the stroller!) with me). That pace was faster (embarrassingly hard for me) and it was hotter outside. The last mile was pretty hard for me, and when we got home I felt sick for a bit (probably dehydrated...and also there's the pregnant thing). I felt better after a couple of bottles of water, though. |

| | Started with Eric, so first half pace was about 9:10. Finished with pace of about 9:44, so...I'm pretty slow on my own. I'm okay with that. I wonder if I ran every day if I'd get faster or if I'd stay the same as the pregnancy progresses? I'm glad I went this morning, but I wish I had gone earlier (it was a little too warm for me). |
