Okay, I did it, and that is all that matters. Just as I suspected my knee started to hurt. I guessed it would be around mile 4, as that is where it has started to hurt on my last couple long runs. Well it hit about 3 1/2 miles in. I had to slow my pace down, but I didn't want to stop, because I learned on my 6 mile run last week, if I stop to walk, it just hurts that much more when I start back up, so I kept a slow pace for the next mile or so... then...... my arch on my foot started to hurt. Every time I went on to the ball of my foot, sharp pains!!!! Well, at about mile five, I made a decision. I can either be miserable and be in pain for the next 20 minutes, OR I can be miserable, and gut it out and push it for the next 10 minutes. Either way I was going to be miserable, so I chose the latter of the two. I passed a lot of people that passed me during mile 4 and 5, so that was cool, though I am sure they didn't like it. My father in law wants me to train for the half marathon in May, which would be hard, and I really don't know if I should, especially if my knee is hurting so bad. It is SO weird though, it is only when I am running, and it hits at about 3.5-4 miles. Any suggestions? |
