Short-Term Running Goals: I want to run 3-4 days a week, and increase the mileage on my long run each week.
Long-Term Running Goals: In 2009 I would like to do 2 half marathons and 1 sprint triathlon.
Personal: I have always been athletic, but started running more seriously at the start of 2007. I had to take a few months off in the summer and fall. I had twins boys in Oct 2007 (hence the time off). I lost a lot of weight when I had them, but managed to gain some of it back. We have a double stroller, which is the hardest workout when I take the boys for a jog.

Painter 5K (3.1 Miles) 00:00:00 | | So this was the first race I have done since I had the twins, and I think the 5K is about my max. I really wanted to do the Dam to Dam, but I just don't think I will be ready for it. I did this race at a very slow pace and my goal was to just get it done. The battery on my watch was broken, so I was not able to track my time. When I finished the girl who came in just after me said it was around 33 minutes. I had to wait in line for a while for them to scan my tag, but they said the times were correct from when we got to the finish. But somehow my card said it was 37 minutes and I was in the men's division...so yeah, I don't know what to believe. I will get back into this someday. I am not a fast runner though, and never will be, but I do have fun running at my turtle pace :) |

| | I thought today would be a hard day because my kids kept me up for a couple of hours EARLY in the morning. But overall it was not that bad. I got up, went to work, got home, played with the kids, and when my hubby got home, I asked if I could go for a run. He wanted to go too, and run to the house we will be moving in to VERY shorlty. So we left the kids with his brother and ran about a half of a mile to the house, stopped for a while to figure out where to place furnature (an endless battle). Then we ran the 1/2 mile home. Not a long run for me, but I pushed it hard and tried to run fast, it felt real good!!! |

| | I set out to do 3 miles, and decided I could do more, so I did 4 miles, which was the most I had run since I had the twins. I admit, I did stop and walk for about 1/4 a mile at about the 3 mile mark. my toes were hurting, so I went in to see Steve about some new shoes. I hate that he makes me get them like 2 sized big, but he would know better than me. |

Steve, I love the new shoes, they worked great! For the record the ++ comes in because I ran about a block or two and decided that my shirt was not cutting it, and riding up, and exposing my not so attractive belly, so I ran home to change my shirt, and then I set out to do my 4 mile run.... In my new cool gray and magenta running kicks :) I cramped up all the left side of my body about 2 miles so I had to walk, but hey I did it. I think I just might be ready for the Spectrum 10K we signed up for.

| | For some reason this was SUCH a hard run for me. I am down in Vegas and had to do it here. I ran from my mom's house to my brothers and back. I don't need to go in to the details of why it was such a bad run, but trust me it was not pleasurable. But I did it, and it took me like and hour and a half, but I did it, right!!! |

| | I tried to run at a faster pace since I was only doing 2 miles. However after about the first mile I was dead, and it took everything in me to run just a bit faster than normal for the second mile. I did finish though, just a wee bit baster than normal. |

| | Time is beginning to become a factor for me. I am just having a hard time fitting in a decent run between the kids eating schedule and when I have somebody to watch them. We STILL have not put together the double jogging stroller, so I still can't take them with me. Anyway, I did this run trying to go fast again, I felt a little better than I did on Tuesday, however, the time did not reflect that :( So now I am off to my Thursday night volleyball league (the highlight of my week super big smiley face), so that might add in a bit more distance..... kinda sorta :) And on Saturday it is a 5 mile run with Mil'L. How nice is it of herl to do it with me at my slow pace! 9:00 AM Mik'L!!!

| | Today Mik'L and I did a 5 mile run. We stopped for a bit at the half way point (I had to use the facilities) and then on the way back my knee started to hurt SOOO bad, we had to stop and walk a few times. I was upset because cardio/breathing I was doing fine, but my knee was just terrible. But I got the distance in, so I guess that is good. |

Spectrum 10K (6.2 Miles) 01:10:58, Place overall: 232, Place in age division: 50 | | Okay, I did it, and that is all that matters. Just as I suspected my knee started to hurt. I guessed it would be around mile 4, as that is where it has started to hurt on my last couple long runs. Well it hit about 3 1/2 miles in. I had to slow my pace down, but I didn't want to stop, because I learned on my 6 mile run last week, if I stop to walk, it just hurts that much more when I start back up, so I kept a slow pace for the next mile or so... then...... my arch on my foot started to hurt. Every time I went on to the ball of my foot, sharp pains!!!! Well, at about mile five, I made a decision. I can either be miserable and be in pain for the next 20 minutes, OR I can be miserable, and gut it out and push it for the next 10 minutes. Either way I was going to be miserable, so I chose the latter of the two. I passed a lot of people that passed me during mile 4 and 5, so that was cool, though I am sure they didn't like it. My father in law wants me to train for the half marathon in May, which would be hard, and I really don't know if I should, especially if my knee is hurting so bad. It is SO weird though, it is only when I am running, and it hits at about 3.5-4 miles. Any suggestions? |

| | I have been trying to increase my Saturday long runs by 1 mile a week, so I set out to do 6 today. I was pretty happy with the distance. I took my husband's Garmin with me to get the distance correct. I have decided in the past few weeks, that I really just don't like running with a watch, because then I am more concerned with the time, and it just depresses me. It took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to do this run, and I think probably at about a 13+ minute mile average pace. I know I am not fast, but I did get the distance. Now for some feedback from you all.... I want to do the half marathon in September, so I wanted to just add 1 mile to each of my long Saturday runs. So next week I would do 7. I am wondering though if I should first get more comfortable with this 6 mile distance and improve my time before I move on to 7 miles? The longest run I have ever done was a couple of 10Ks. Which is 6.2 miles, I went 6.3, which makes this the longest run I have ever done. So yeah, I am just wondering if I should get more comfortable here before I try longer distances. What do you think?

I have stopped nursing my boys, so I thought it was time to start running in the mornings. So Mik'L and I went out at 6:00AM this morning to do our run. It was a decent run, but Mik'L is still a little faster than me, and I still have to walk a bit, but it was good. After I got home though I was throwing up. I wasn't feeling good Monday night, but I felt fine when I left for the run. I am thinking that with being a little under the weather, along with a run in the morning, on an empty stomach, all just combined for a not good day, and a hard recovery.

I was going to run tonight, but then I decided maybe I just need a day to rest and get better. We will see if I feel well enough to run tomorrow. I feel so bad because I am finally in the zone where I WANT to run, but I probably just need to start feeling better. What a way to spend my day off, sick, taking care of the twins... Oh, and I had dentist appointment, so my mouth was numb for a few hours. I wish ALL my days off of work could be like this :) |

| | I got up this morning and still wasn't feeling very well. I think the combination of whatever bug I had last week, and changing my running schedule to morning has just taken its toll on my body. I set out and met up with Mik'L. I wanted to do 4, but when I woke up, I thought I should only do 3 so I didn't over do it. But once we hit our stride we felt like doing more, so we comprimised with 3.5. It felt good! Thanks Mik'L for getting up early to go with me :)

So I set out to meet up with Mik'l at the entrance of her housing complex. She was going to do 4 miles and I was going to do 5 (it is 1/2 a mile from my house to hers. Anyway, I didn't really look at my watch because it just depresses me. But at 4 miles I looked at my watch and it was about 43 minutes. I had to make up a little distance to factor in from Mik'l's house to the entrance, so I made up that distance and finished my 5 mile run in 55 minutes!!!! I am so excited you don't even know. I finally feel like I have hit my stride, like I did before I had to stop running a year ago because of the twins.

| | I had hoped to do 6-7 miles this morning but David had to today from 6 AM to 6 PM today, and I wasn't about to get up at 4:30 AM, so I decided to run at night. Well after the whole day of being with the twins and fun filled Saturday activities flying solo, I was exhausted. David finally got home, and we put the kids to bed, and I left. I wanted to do 3 miles fast, and it was HOT. I did okay and decided to do 4. This was one of my fastest paces in a while. Mile 1: 9:50 (down hill), Mile 2: 10:40 (combo, mostly up hill), Mile 3: 10:15 (combo, mostly downhill), Mile 4: 12:25 (UP HILL). And if I have done my math correctly that is 43:10. which is what my watch said when I finished. The last mile to my house, no matter what way I go, is always UPHILL and it totally KILLS me. But according t Mik'L it is level ;) I don't think you will see times like that out of me again for a while, I didn't much enjoy that.

5:40 AM, which is the time my alarm went off, to which I snoozed until 5:50 AM..... came MUCH too early this morning. It seems to be coming more and more early the more often I get up early. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Needless to say, I was NOT in the mood to run, but did it anyway. I left the house and decided, in the words of my hubby, that this would be a gingerly run. I took off at a leisure pace and did mile 1 in 11 minutes, mile 2 in 12 and mile 3 in 12 minutes. So not too bad, I stayed under 12 minute miles which was okay for me. After lunch I am taking the boys to the pool, a common activity on my days off, so that should be fun :)

| | I did this run in Hatch, Utah. The weather was BEAUTIFUL for a run.... minus the mosquitoes. I have probably 10 bites, two of which are over 3 inches in diameter. Anyway, I left with my sister and we ran 3 miles. It was a very hilly run, which was good for me. I dropped her back at the house and continued out for another 2 miles. I ran bast where my brother got hit by an antelope while riding his motorcycle. I wanted to go more, but when I dropped my sister off, I knew breakfast was ready. Plus Mik'L warned me about the altitude playing a factor, so it kinda played psyched me out (thanks Mik'L). Anyway, it was a fun weekend with the family. After my run though, I did screw up my back when I was holding one of the kids, and bent down to pick something up. I couldn't do much the rest of the day. It does feel a bit better, but I don't know if I should run :(

| | My goal was to do 4-5 miles. Possibly pushing it since my doctor told me to keep my miles low, which for me is in the 2-3 range. Anyway when I woke up, I was NOT feeling well, and it was everything in me to convince myself to go. I decided to just do 2-3. After a mile into the run I thought I could go longer, but trusting my body and my gut, told me to only do 3 which is what I did. It was a good thing too, because at about 2.5 miles, I wasn't doing too hot and basically had to walk the rest. I hope it is not because I am THAT out of shape from the week off for my back. I don't think it is because I did the 5K on Tuesday just fine. I think I just had a bug or something. My running schedule will most likely be changing because of my husbands work schedule. He is also training for the marathon which is more important. I think the Sept half marathon is out of the question, but maybe the one in November. I may turn my workout efforts towards Pilates to strengthen my back a bit more, and that way I can do that at home when the boys are sleeping. I will still try to get a run in here or there. BTW.... I LOVE Winsor Pilates but seem to have misplaced my 20 min workout. If somebody out there has it and doesn't use it, I would love to purchase it from you :)

| | I stayed out late last night (saw the new Batman), and then had to get up with the kids twice in the night, so by the time 6:30 AM rolled around, I couldn't get myself out of bed. I have decided, and I don't know if I have already posted this, but I am going to pass (most likely) on doing the September half marathon. Right now it is more important for my husband to train for his marathon. So we are coming up with a schedule for us to run. I will most likely keep my miles in the 2-4 range and concentrate more on strengthening my back, since it tightens up SO much after runs. I like Pilates because it REALLY works your abs, in turn strengthens your back. If anybody else has any suggestions, let me know :) I do want to run a half in November. By then the day will have cooled down, and it wont be such an issue when I can run and when David gets to.

About 1/4 of a mile into my run I noticed I had a flat tire, and didn't want that to stop me from my run because I didn't go last night, and I probably wouldn't get to go tonight. So I proceeded. Downhill I didn't even think about it, and did that mile in 12 minutes. On the way back... the dreaded UPhill.... I thought to myself... "I have been running with this stroller long enough that is shouldn't be THIS hard..." Then I remembered the flat tire! Oh, My Goodness, you don't think about how much a simple, flat tire can affect your run, but WOW!!! I highly recommend anybody running with a stroller check the air prior to leaving. | | So today I didn't technically run, but I played in a volleyball tournament yesterday and today. Trust me, there was lots of short sprints, diving and jumping involved. I am sure it accounts for at least a mile. I am so extremely sore it isn't even funny. As I ran my first couple strides, I was REALLY hoping to get 2 miles in because I was still so sore from the weekend of volleyball. Well, once I hit my 1st mile (10 min) I was feeling okay, and the heat wasn't too bad, so I continued. My 2nd mile was also 10 minutes. Then the DREADED last mile uphill. The sun was beating on my face, and all of a sudden it was a LOT more hot, not only that, but the wind was blowing against me as well. I did this in about 12 minutes. I was pleased to do 3 miles in 32 minutes. But I really need to get that last mile under 12 minutes. |

Trailes River Run 5K (3.1 Miles) 00:31:13, Place overall: 10, Place in age division: 5 | | I think that was really 10th place for women, because I know there were more than 10 people in front of me. This was a good race, I tried to push it, and I did. The last mile there was a HUGE hill that was not fun, and really slowed me down. The last 1/4 mile I was really trying to push it to get a good time, just when I was starting to give up, a girl came up behind me and made me try even harder so she wouldn't pass me. Well, with about 100 yards to go, she passed me, and was probably laughing at me on the inside at this girl who tried so hard not to let her pass. I know I do when I am in her shoes. Well, come to find out she started the race like a minute later and was playing catchup the whole race.... I don't know if that makes me feel better or worse. But I thank my unknown friend who pushed me hard at the end and got me in under 32 minutes, which was a secret goal, though to others I think I said 34 minutes. !0 minute 2 second mile pace... I am proud of this run! |

| | slow and steady in like 35 minutes. Just a nice slow jog. My back is doing the same thing that it was before I screwed it up in July, so I kinda feel like any day it might go out again... Oh Joy!!! Hopefully not though.

| | This was a walk jog combo. A run that when you finish, you know it was a bad run. It was with the stroller, so yeah. |

| | I set out today to do my first 4 miler in quite a while. I really didn't want to push it early and then be half way through my run and be warn out. My first mile was about 11:50 and same with the second. Mile 3 was about 11 minutes, and mile 4 was give or take 12. I am not sure of the exact times but I finished in 46:36. It felt good, I didn't ever feel like I had to stop and walk, so that was nice. The time may not have been all that great.... but I am in it for the distance I guess. |

| | I have been feeling under the weather which is why I didn't run on Monday. I really wanted to run, so I did 2 miles today when I really should have taken another day off. I just feel like if I miss too many runs it will set me back, or I will gain another 10 pounds. I had to walk the last half mile. |

| | I went on a trail run so I am not sure how far it was or how long I ran. I know I was pushing it pretty hard and ran for about 30 minutes, so I am guessing 3 miles. It felt good to get a run in since I have been sick. I did have to walk a bit, but it was good! |

| | David is out of town so I am on my own here. I dropped the boys off at a friends house and then ran my 4 miles and then back to pick them up. I felt bad because 1 of the boys just cried the whole time.... he has become kind of a mama's boy. I was pretty tired at the end when I had to push the boys up the hill to my house in the stroller. |

| | With Mik"l and pushing the stroller. The boys were SO cold, I need to get hats for them I think. I don't know how much longer they will be able to go with me in the mornings :( They were a little more cranky than normal as well, which I think has something to do with David being gone on business. It was a tough run though, I seriously thought running with the stroller would get easier and it totally is NOT :( |

| | I called to see if Mik"l wanted to run, but she left me in the dust!! Kidding, she left before I could go. Anyway, I got ready to run, and felt a little nauseous probably because I ate an early dinner the night before, and hadn't eaten yet that morning. Anyway, I knew I wanted to do a long run on Saturday, so I decided to take it easy and a little run was better than NO run. |

| | This was actually a little over 8 miles and I did it in about 1 hour and 40-45 minutes. The dumb Garmin watch kept turning off on me, so I don't know the exact distance ore time, since I have never run that far and the course was unfamiliar. I do know it was at least 8 because I turned around at a little after 4 miles. I had the "Across the Universe" sound tract to keep me company. It was COLD. I couldn't imagine what the marathoners did last week in about the same weather plus rain. After that run, I think I might be ready for the Half Marathon at the beginning of November, but I am still hesitant to sign up. If I do it I will take my SWEET time and probably run like a 11-14 minute mile pace. |

| | Set out to do a 10 mile run, and to take my time. But when I left the house, the Garmin wouldn't turn on. So I had to figure out the routes I knew and how long they were to get in 10 miles. I left and didn't even think about water. Once I got about 5-6 miles into my run I was SO thirsty I took a detour to a park and got a drink from the drinking fountain. I could totally feel it by about mile 8. I had to do walk and run combos more than I would like to admit. Once I hit 10 miles and was only 1/2 a mile from my house, I stopped by a friends house, knocked on the door, and yelled, "I NEED WATER!!!!!!!" They were so kind to give me a bottle of water, and then I finished my run. I thought it was about 10 miles. Afterward we drove the course and decided it would have been about 10.5 miles, and I did it in about 2 hours and 22 minutes. I am nervous for the half marathon, I don't know that I can do it. This was tough. But I do think with the combination of walking running, and aid stations with water, I will be okay..... I hope :) |

| | I decided to do 5 miles today. I ran 2.5 and stopped to stretch because my hips really hurt from my Sat. long run. Anyway, when I got back up my legs were like Jello. I felt like I had no control over them at all. I finally felt okay a mile later. I finished the run in about 56 minutes. I really can't decide what I hate more, running 10 miles slow and easy, or pushing myself for 5 miles. |

Snow Canyon Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 02:33:35 | | Snow Canyon half marathon. I thought it was a good race, and I was pleased with my time, I was aiming to get in before 3 hours and keep a 13 min/mile pace. I did an 11:43 overall pace. They said there would be aid stations at miles 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11. This was true for the most part. We had them at approximately mile 3, 4.5, 6.5, 8.5, which was all good, but then not another one until almost 11.5. I was about to DIE!!!! My first 3 miles were probably about a 10 minute mile pace. Mile 4-8 was maybe an 11 minute mile pace, and then 8-11 probably 12 minute miles. Miles 11-13 were probably like 15 minute miles. My Garmin didn't work which was a bummer. My Father-in-law came back after he finished and met up with me at mile 11 and finished with me, which was AWESOME! |

| | I was going to do 7 miles, and then 5 and then the day got away from me and I wasn't even going to run, and I was trying to convince myself that it was okay if I didn't. Then my wise hubby said for me to just go out and do 2 miles so I at least did a run. I think he could tell I would ahve regretted not running. |

I left with the intentions of doing 3 miles but within about 10 strides I knew if wasn't going to happen. On Sunday I woke up with a terrible back ache. On Monday it wasn't so bad, so I didn't think running would hurt. Well, I was wrong. So I decided that I still wanted to run because I just did, so I only did a mile. We will see what I am able to do on Tuesday :(
