Set out to do a 10 mile run, and to take my time. But when I left the house, the Garmin wouldn't turn on. So I had to figure out the routes I knew and how long they were to get in 10 miles. I left and didn't even think about water. Once I got about 5-6 miles into my run I was SO thirsty I took a detour to a park and got a drink from the drinking fountain. I could totally feel it by about mile 8. I had to do walk and run combos more than I would like to admit. Once I hit 10 miles and was only 1/2 a mile from my house, I stopped by a friends house, knocked on the door, and yelled, "I NEED WATER!!!!!!!" They were so kind to give me a bottle of water, and then I finished my run. I thought it was about 10 miles. Afterward we drove the course and decided it would have been about 10.5 miles, and I did it in about 2 hours and 22 minutes. I am nervous for the half marathon, I don't know that I can do it. This was tough. But I do think with the combination of walking running, and aid stations with water, I will be okay..... I hope :) |
