I had intended to take Fri-Sun off, but I ended up in the ER very late Sunday morning for an intestinal blockage. I'm still in the hospital, though things are looking up, and I may escape this without surgery.

Symptoms came on suddenly Sunday evening and mirrored my last Crohn's attack fairly well (aside from the rapid onset), so I sort of assumed surgery would be necessary. The surgeons thought so too, to the point that I was 100% prepped for surgery and seconds away from being put under before another set of surgeons intervened and suggested a wait-and-see approach. I really can't overstate how grateful I am that we waited. There was talk that a surgery in this case would likely result in an ostomy bag.... talk about lifechanging!

I'm not totally out of the woods, but the blockage has cleared, and now I'm slowly being reintroduced to food. There is some chance this wasn't a Crohn's attack at all but more of a complication from the surgery I had 12 years ago. The previous incision site narrows a bit, and perhaps I ate too much of the wrong thing all at once.

In any case, I'm hoping for the best. And counting myself extremely fortunate to not be in post-surgery recovery.
