I'm in a little hot water with my wife right now.  I forgot that it's Christmas break so I woke my son up for school.  Then when I went back in to check on him he was still snoozing away so I squirted him with my water bottle.  Not much.  Just a little.  You can't get a whole lot out of a water bottle nozzle.  But then he reminded me that there was no school.  I felt dumb and said, "Oh yeah."  Then he called me a name.  Really, son?  Did you really just call me that?  So he got some more squirting.  Now my wife's mad at me.

The run was good.  I went potty before, but had to go again after the first loop.  I took a hammer gel and did the second loop with a negative split of 10 seconds.  It was nice seeing the sun come up.

Temp - 51 - is it really Dec. 20th?

Time - 1:38:50 (avg. pace 8:59)

Splits - 8:58, 8:53, 8:59, 9:03, 9:08, 8:58, 9:03, 8:57, 9:02, 9:00, 8:50

Laughing my head off!!! Yeah, my wife would be pretty mad, too, if I did that to my kids.

Nice run.

From nevels on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 12:17:37 from 155.74.2.253

not seeing the problem...

From Burt on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 12:53:41 from 206.19.214.144

Dale - yadda yadda something about him being sick. I don't know. He wasn't sick enough to be gone over to one of his friend's house by the time I got back.

Nevels - On the surface it's difficult to see. You just have to learn one thing when you get married; if your wife is mad at you, you have to apologize and admit fault even when it's not your fault. (Now let's just hope she doesn't read this. Or any other woman for that sake.)

From nevels on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 12:56:25 from 155.74.2.253

still not seeing the issue (but maybe that's why my luck with ladies has been nonexistant for quite some time... well, that and the odd ultrarunner thing...)

From SlowJoe on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 13:17:03 from 214.13.130.104

She doesn't have to read it Burt. She undoubtedly sensed your words as you were typing them. They have that power.

From Scott Wesemann on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 13:33:08 from 66.239.250.209

11 miles? I can only imagine the sweat. Nice work Burt.

From allie on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 13:37:23 from 174.23.238.75

yes, it's december 20th.

From Burt on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 13:47:11 from 206.19.214.144

Nevels - It's clear to everyone on the blog that you and KP need to get married. That reminds me of a song. "She wears high heels. I wear sneakers. She's cheer captain, and I'm on the bleachers..."

Joe - I'm really gonna get it when I get home, huh?

Scott - you should have seen the people sliding behind me from the trail of sweat.

Ms. Scott - you a very literal today. Very literal.

From RAD on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 14:14:53 from 67.172.229.125

So Burt, which one is the cheer captain and which one is on the bleachers?

Gotta say, I think the squirt bottle sounds like a nice alarm clock for my boys! I'd only be mad about the fact that the kid was up and I now had to deal with them instead of them sleeping. If he called YOU a name, I'd be after the kid's hide, not yours.

Hopefully the miles were afterward so you could run it all out! Nice work.

From Burt on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 14:19:39 from 206.19.214.144

KP is. She's dreaming about the Nevels wakes up and finds what he's been looking for has been here the whole. If he could see that she's the one who understands him, been there all along, so why can't he see he belongs with her. He belongs with her.

Yes, the run was after.

From april27 on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 20:27:49 from 99.188.251.180

I can't believe you know that song.

As a woman I think I would have squirted him with water as well if he were my son and I thought he had to go to school. Maybe that is why I don't have kids. LOL

From DonGardinero on Mon, Dec 20, 2010 at 23:41:19 from 152.216.7.5

So, how was your wife when you got home?

From ChrisM on Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 05:45:31 from 82.20.234.157

at least you didn't squirt your wife with the water to wake her up for school, that would have been HOT water...

From Sammie Howard on Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 07:18:46 from 78.32.130.9

Burt i read it and I thought it was funny actually being a woman lol

yes but IM more of a tomboy I think thats a great idea, Im going to squirt my son every time hes cheeky or doesnt get outta bed lol

From Burt on Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 10:51:15 from 72.223.84.236

April - What can I say? I have kids that like to sing the latest teeny bopper songs.

Dale - quiet! She hasn't read it yet.

Chris - she would beat me up for sure.

Sam - I would like a full report on that.

From The Quiet Pirate on Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 20:08:01 from 71.77.158.102

I love catching the sunrise too. Nice miles for a Monday.

I think you should just be happy it was your son calling you a name and not your wife...what name would it be???? Nevels, Don, Scott... A rose by any other name would be just as slippery after a run like that.

From Nan on Tue, Dec 21, 2010 at 22:50:31 from 98.245.117.176

I'm with Victoria. Mean Dad.

From Burt on Wed, Dec 22, 2010 at 11:21:12 from 206.19.214.144

QP - my wife often calls me Fabio during our "moments of intimacy." I guess it's a pet name or something.

Nan - This is the kid that hid under a pillow on the couch and pretended like he was sleeping the whole time you came over. I should have squirted him then, too.

From julieesplin on Wed, Dec 22, 2010 at 21:35:08 from 75.169.175.204

When my son was 1 he started screaming for no reason at random times. Not a "I'm hurt" scream, but a "I like to hear myself make noise" scream. A little squirt in the face worked like a charm. Only had to do it a few times.

The squirt bottle's not a problem. Having a dad that doesn't know when his kids are out of school. That's a problem!

From Burt on Wed, Dec 22, 2010 at 23:17:19 from 72.223.84.236

Julie! Whose side are you on? I still have to work. How do I know when the kids don't have school?

Okay. You're right. I guess I suck.

From KP on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 10:44:32 from 65.208.22.25

I am just seeing this! You guys are hilarious. Seriously. You're all getting an invite to the wedding. Except for Burt. Just because I don't want to get squirted with a water bottle.

From Burt on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 11:24:28 from 206.19.214.144

I was hoping to be the maid of honor.

From KP on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 11:35:33 from 65.208.22.25

RAD has already secured that spot. Oh, and Allie.

I'm trying to get a head count. Allie, will you be bringing Fiddy? RAD, you are allowed to bring QP as your date.

I'm thinking of hiring you as the wedding singer though, Burt. Think you can handle that?

From Burt on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 11:50:07 from 206.19.214.144

I'll make a demo tape.

From allie on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 13:06:10 from 174.23.238.75

i will be bringing fiddy and seventeen cats. we'll be coming in a large RV, so clear space for us in your driveway. see you soon!

From KP on Wed, Dec 29, 2010 at 13:17:28 from 65.208.22.25

Fiddy is welcome. 17 dogs are welcome. Cats are not welcome. The bride does not like cats, and it is allllll about the bride. I'll tell Nevels to make room for your ride in the driveway.
