Last night I went with the 12 to 18 year old boys from church to camp out at Roosevelt Lake.  This morning I went on a little run.  It felt good and had just enough elevation gain to make for a good workout.  Later I swam in the lake.  Then I sat at the edge of the lake and got the seat of my shorts all sandy.  Then I was going to ride in someone's boat, but I didn't want my sandy bottom to  get all over their boat so I jumped off the dock into the water.  Then when I went to climb back in I think I cracked a rib on the dock.  Then I rode on one of those big tube thingies and bounced around on my rib cage.  Now it hurts.  Then the end.

Is Yoda Burt wearing a ragnar shirt?

From Burt on Sun, Aug 04, 2013 at 12:38:58 from 174.19.197.218

Nan - the last time I cracked a rib Sasha told me I should run anyway.

Jon - Yep! My San Diego van started calling me the Yoda of Ragnar and one of them made that picture for me :)

One time I had a compound fracture in both femurs and Sasha told me 10 miles easy every day until they healed. I think it's getting better:

It still looks backwards to me.

Next time just take off the shorts and dip them in the water.

From Tara on Tue, Aug 06, 2013 at 18:27:30 from 141.0.11.221

Apparently I missed the part where you cracked a rib. must have been on the tube. Someone is coming back...

From Burt on Tue, Aug 06, 2013 at 18:41:17 from 174.19.197.218

Julie! I had my wife pack my stuff while I was at work, and I forgot to tell her to pack me some panties so I was going commando! Would that change your mind about having me take them off and dipping them? Speaking of losing your shorts, one of the boys was hanging on the tube and fell off, but wouldn't let go. The next thing you know he lost his shorts. They were bright pink, but they were gone. Luckily he had spandex on underneath.

Tara - I rode the tube once after cracking my rib. I did it while I was trying to climb, wait a minute, I already explained how I cracked it. Pay attention!

down on your luck? Do I have a product for you!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Wed, Aug 07, 2013 at 18:04:53 from 174.239.227.97

Cracked ribs are no fun but you can handle it. It will stop hurting in a few months. When's your next Ragnar? I just did Northwest Passage again and now I can't stop thinking about doing another one!

I think Vegas will be my next one. I am now making it my lifetime goal to be on a team with you. Separate vans, of course.

whatever you do...don't sneeze.

but yes, keep running.

From Tara on Tue, Aug 13, 2013 at 09:07:40 from 75.169.143.33

Run through it and break another rib. That's the runner mentality. Excuse me, foolish runner mentality. Do Kegels instead. Great for the core and pelvic floor muscles.

If you think they are too painful, then just revert to sneezing and coughing, even if you don't have those urges.

A sad tale, Burt. I've separated a rib like that similarly on more than one occasion. Took about 6 weeks each time. Good luck. Heal well.

From Burt on Mon, Aug 19, 2013 at 22:02:22 from 174.19.199.67

Flat - Joe has a sick mind. Just ask my sister.

Choke - I'm feeling better. Now it's just a matter of finding the time.

Chili's called- they want their Baby Back Ribs back. Time to get back to running and making trips to the magic water fountain. You've got to get training for tax season when Lady Liberty expects you to be at the top of your game.
