Running Accomplishments:

Stay in the game, keep in the moment - have conquered a few of the holy grails of running - sub 3hr marathon, ran Boston and qualified for Boston at Boston, 10K PR under 6 min miles, won a couple of 5Ks in my early days of running, running for 30 years and ran 39 marathons.  The transistion to the back of the pack has not been easy, but, acceptance, stay in the game, root for others, enjoy the rest of the journey.  Another off the bucket list second =  Provo Half IM -  have done 6 open water Tris and 6 pool Tris.  Gave the STG IM a good Tri, hope to take another shot at the IM.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 2013 Race Plan - STG Half IronMan, Lake Mead Rage Olympic distance, STG spring relay tri, STG half marathon, STG marathon, Cozumel IM, Utah Summer Games Triathlon at Gunlock, Murray 5k with family and Utah Half Distance Triathlon, 187 mile red rock relay,  STG marathon,

*note of clarification - cross training miles from biking and swimming calculated as follows: (as someone may wonder) 20 mile an hour bike = 5 cross training miles (those not familar with a 20 mph pace, good bike effort for long distance,  swimming, convert 1 hour swimming to 5 cross training miles.  For those that do not swim much, great cardio workout.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Enjoy the Swim, Bike Run thru Life - Hope to Run a Few Races Support Sylvie - Be a good coach   - Support Jenna, Jeremy, Taylor and Bonnie - my kids are now into running, who would of thunk it.  long term goals, recover from the ankle sprain, accept was it, have fun racing, mountain biking, faster swimming.

Personal:

BSRools, the B stands for Brent and the S for Sylvie.  The Rools come from my personal running rools over the years: Never complain once the run starts, allways pick up the pace into the wind and always pick up the pace on a hill. If someone whines, pick up the pace.  Once a goal is set, no whining, regardless of setbacks.  We were running when running was not Kool.   Kool comes from a race story, ran my first race, 5K wearing a "beanie that had "Kool Aid Kid"

Holy Cow, already at 30 for the week! Very nice start. Are you enjoying your new Rocket Ship? I sure wished I enjoyed biking more. Just having a hard time getting into it.

Mike, I'm a runner at heart, would have never considered Tris if my knees had not gone. Your the first I have told this too, this year STG will be my last marathon, not couting the 2012 IronMan. Biking, hum, it is tough to get into, kind of a solo sport, loner thing. Swimming, loner thing. Running is the bomb and will always be the bomb. But, love being active, in the game, Tris will have to do.

Nice work on the run this morning. Did you get a chance to see the meteor shower early one morning last week? I couldn't drag myself out early enough to run under the shower of stars, but I think it would've been amazing.

Once a runner, always a runner. I'm glad I get to spend your last SGM hoorah with you. Plus...you never know how things may turn around in a year or two!

Devine, it may appear that I am feeling sorry for my situation, not the case, I have ran 37 marathons, set PRs that most runners would envy, countless races, great runs and have made many friends along the journey. Also, I have paid it forward helping many runners, getting them started running marathons. I feel best about paying it forward. The running journey ends for all of us at some point, I will be out there shuffling along, being in the game until the biggest race is over.

Actually, I would say 37 marathons is pretty rare. Most people just can't put that kind of mileage on there bodies. Very impressive! I am sure you will be doing a lot of halfs and 10k's. Also, with your Iron Man goal you have plenty of work to do. Hey, kinda sounds like your just getting started:)

Mike, thanks, put a grin on my face this morning. Your right, that IronMan will be a bear for training. When your get ready to start hitting the bike, let me know, I will bring down my Tri bike. I usually come down on thursday night and go back on sunday. Sunday morning seems like a good day to ride if it does not interfere with church or family, very little traffic on the Gunlock loop. I usually ride early sunday morning right when the light is breaking.

By the way, very impressed with your marathon pace run last saturday, did the run include veyo? Also, how spent were you after the run? It seems like the stars are aligning, great work. Do you feel you could have held that pace for another 6 miles?

Brent, we started above Brookside. I did not intend to run like this, but the Wild Bull got me going. I hit the gas through Dammeron and every mile was faster the rest of the way in. Closed with a 6:10, 6:08 and 6:04. I am back to the weight I ran UVM at. I know the key for me is 10 more lbs. I need to stay healthy & consistent. Also, I never get over confident. It's one thing to do it in a practice run, but we all know it's what you do on game day! Thanks for the encouragment.

Brent, I'd never think you were whining! You are the author of the Rools, and they don't allow whining. Being reflective, honest and willing to make lemonade out of the seeming lemons life has handed to you is respectful (your forward paying is the sugar you have to add!). I truly am honored to be able to run your last with you! You've sponsored an AMAZING career and I think you'll be surprised at the throw down you're gonna give those tri's! Onward and Upward!
