PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:19:48 (1:10:09/1:09:39).  I ran on the Santa Cruz river trail today.  It is a flat bike path that winds up and connects to the Rillato path on the NW side of town.  This was the first flat run that I have done since San Diego in August.  It is completely uninspiring (read, boring) but FLAT.  Well, it was flat, but the gusting headwind after I turned around felt a lot like a hill!  The very small negative split after the turnaround belies the difficulty of running into a headwind for 8 miles, but I was very grateful that I was able to run hard, and strong, the whole way today -- the cool 86F helps a lot!  Yesterday the high was 70F!!!!!  today, 90F, but still better than the height of summer.  Seriously, fall in Tucson is heavenly.

Happy Sunday bloggers!

AM: (9.5 miles, 1:21:34).  31wu/34cd.  12 x :15 w/1` recovery.  Looks easy, but this was pretty much top end speed.  By the last one, my legs were pretty sore.

PM: easy  3.5 - I got started late, it was really dark (no street lights out here in the boonies).

This week is the first week of my new training plan - excited!  Greg has spent a lot of time on my new plan, I can't wait to see how it goes!

Running in the dark again!  I started my new job today, whew.   I never thought I would be 50 years old and working two jobs ... but here we are.  If I can survive the next 2 months life will be very good.  I really do think I am going to enjoy my new work life.  Exciting work.

Happy week bloggers!

AM: (10 miles 1:26:xx).  I reset my watch and forgot to write down the time, doh!  but, I remember what I did, because it felt hard -- harder than last week.  10 miles with the last 20` at steady state pace (just under threshold pace - last 2.x miles, my "benchmark" was 16:18, on the way out it was 18:49).

PM: easy 4, again, in the dark (the one bad thing about fall).

Pretty tired.  I am too old for this stuff ;-)

Early morning radiation run.

I have a little less flexibility in my time with my new job -- but, that is why I get paid the big bucks ;-)

AM: (8 miles, 1:10:56).  Brought carrots (and a couple apple slices) to Big Boy and CoCo ... it was a pain to carry, but I got "horse nuzzles" so it was worth it ;-).

PM: easy 4.

Happy weekend bloggers!
