4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:03:46.  Ran with my friend Merry, from Tucson -- she was up here in Flagstaff for the weekend.  I was going to take her to my "usual" spot, but she had to bring her dog.  Copper (the dog) can only run about 5 miles, so we were going to need to run and then leave him in the car - unfortunately, where I usually run doesn't really have any shade and it would have been too hot.  So, instead, I showed her my Snowbowl trail which has a whole forest of shade.

Because Merry had just gotten up her, she had a tough time breathing on my trail, it is really hilly, but she hung in there for 90 mins!  Copper got a little tired too, but he hung with us for almost 5 miles.  Merry is faster than me -- unless she is just coming off an illness or when she isn't acclimated to altitude ;-), I guess this is what you would call handicapping the run.

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

AM: (10.5 miles, 1:29:00 -- seriously! how did that happen?).  First run back in Tucson -- it was hot, and because of the monsoons it was actually humid (for here) too.  91F/30%

40:02wu/29:46cd  10 x 1` w/1` recovery.   Even though I miss Flagstaff, it was beautiful here last night -- I missed my mountains.

PM: easy 4.

Happy Tuesday bloggers!

1:14:23.  Yes, it was slow, mainly because it was hot, it felt very hot.

I am working like mad to get some things done before I leave town very early tomorrow morning.  One thing about living on the West Coast (and in a city that has NO direct flights to anywhere on the East Coast) is that I have to spend an entire day getting anywhere ... So, I have to leave very very early tomorrow to get to Miami Beach too late to do a PM run, and then I have two days of full board meeting stuff, then 3 days of conference (and more meetings), and then I leave Florida to head to Colorado to see my Mom (and meet her hospice nurse) ... it is going to be a long 10 days.   I will run as much as I can ... but, probably not as much as usual.

Take care bloggers, run well, run safe!!

1:15:xx.  Very early morning run before I jumped on a plane and traveled for 8 hours.  Got into Miami at 9PM.  Very humid, but man what a party town, it was hopping all night!  The hotels are a rip-off, especially for a business trip.  They charge a $150 "room deposit" to your credit card and $220/day (a day!) if you choose to be able to sign for things (like food)!!  Wow, since I will be here for nearly 7 days, this is amazing!

Early morning run (6AM Eastern, 3AM Arizona time).  I ran mostly on the beach.  It is pretty nice, for the most part it was hard packed and pretty easy to run on ... about 25 mins of it was softer and more of a workout - I found it harder than running uphill -- especially since it was 89F and very very humid.

Have a great day bloggers!

AM: 8 early, muggy miles ... I ran on the beach and then along the marina (on brick and concrete -- ouch) for a while.

PM: 4 miles easy.

I HAVE to figure out how to get my long(er) run in tomorrow.  I might rent a scooter and go out to a park that I have heard about ... kind of depends how far away it is, otherwise it will be pretty darn tough to find where to run ...

Got to go, the meeting is starting again!!

Happy weekend bloggers!
