PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

2:04:05.  Exactly the same route as last week, but 2 1/2 minutes faster.  I did not feel "as good" because I pushed it from the get-go.  Normally I would have done more of a progression run, but since it is at altitude I thought I would just run a little harder the whole way.  It is pretty draining up the hills though, so I wasn't really able to run as hard as I like to the final couple miles.  Still a nice run though.  Sprinkled but did not really "rain" except for the first 30 mins, just enough to get my clothes wet for the next hour and 1/2!

I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday!!

AM: (9 miles, 1:18:48).  Ran at Buffalo Park, after watching the Team USA Arizona (McMillan Elite) do their workouts ... Two of them are getting ready for the World Championship in the Marathon in Daegu, South Korea in August  (Andrew Lemmoncello and Nick Arcinaga) and others are training for a variety of track and road races.  Man they are fast!  It is amazing to watch them.  After they were done then I did my run - Buffalo Park is a 2 mile looped dirt trail, with hills, at 7500ft.  I wasn't really doing a workout, but I did try to work a little harder after a warm-up.  My times on the loops were 18:03, 17:07 (8:33), 16:47 (8:23), 16:44 (8:22), I then cooled down for another mile or so.  It doesn't look like much, but one of the hills is pretty horrid, and it is the hills where I really feel the altitude ...  It was good to run hard though ... just as a matter of comparison, Brett Gotcher ran his loops in 9 mins or so, and he looked awesome doing it!  I can't wait for Houston to see how he, Nick and Stephanie do, all three of them have a chance at making the Olympic Team!

PM: easy 4

Hoping you are all having a great day!!

AM: (11 miles, 1:38:45).  Got up early and met Tracy (McMillan) for coffee and then went to Mountain Sports (Patagonia store) for their SALE !!!  Had to get there by 9 so we could make sure they still had our size, S/M are the first to go!  I also bought Dean two shirts, so it was not ALL about me (well, yes it was).   Then I went to the Snowbowl to run up the mountain.  Huff/Puff/Huff/Puff -- hit 8100-8500 ft and then came down ...

PM: easy 4.

So sad that these are our last days in Flagstaff.  sniff, sniff.

1:04:19.   Nice run, I found my second favorite potential campsite in the National Forest -- this one was so remote you could camp there for a couple months (technically, you are only supposed to camp in the same site for 14 days).  Nice views, no one around for  miles, and very beautiful.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Friday!

AM: (8 miles, 1:08:53).  My last run on FR222 for a while, sad.  July 21st opens grazing rights in Coconino National Forest, so there was a lot of cow activity today on my run.  They were really cool cows too, the ones with horns - I am not sure they were Texas Longhorns, but a similar species for sure.

PM: easy 4.

Happy weekend bloggers!
