PR's

5K: 21:26 (2005)

4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

Nice run around the UC Davis Arboretum - it was a 3.5 mile loop, I ran 3 loops and added on 15 mins to the Research Park area.  Pretty hot, but after Tampa and Jeremy Ranch Road it seemed a lot easier!  Nice to run at 52ft above sea level (there was a sign ;-) ).

Our flight was overbooked yesterday so we got bumped to a later flight -- and did not get to our motel until 2AM (3AM Salt Lake time) - woke up at 8AM ... we have to register for the conference and I still have 9 slides to prepare before the opening mixer tonight!!  I spent 4 hours yesterday trying to convert some figures into postscript so I can put them in my presentation (I use a package called LaTex and I need postscript figures) .. ouch, and it is frustrating!!

Happy Sunday bloggers.

1:20:43 ... ran on the Davis bike path to the end and then a loop around the Arboretum.  4 x 5` on w/5` recovery (my last one was with Dean and probably too fast!  I would guess I was running around 7:40 - 7:45 pace.

We went to a really cool Spanish tapas place night with about 10 of our friends from the conference - and then ended up stopping in a Karoke place -- it was fun (none of us actually sang!).

1:03:24 ... I am tired.  Too many long days, staying out to late and getting up too early!  It is nice to see so many old friends in one place, but I am ready to get home today.

I ran 2 easy loops around the Arboretum.  Legs feel fine, but my mind is tired.

My talk went about as expected - it was obvious I had not spent enough time on it ... I am sure it will get better then next couple of times I give it ;-).

Happy Wednesday bloggers.

AM: 56:58 (slightly longer than 6 miles) - ran two laps on the grass at Liberty Park. I took it really slow, partly because I am trying to make sure I have the energy to run again this afternoon, and partly because my body is just completely exhausted. All the travel has really started to wear me down. Thankfully, I was able to keep from gaining weight, I have not lost any more than I had before the past two weeks of travel - and as hard as I tried I could not eat as well as I had wanted. My goal for the rest of the week, and into next, is to try really hard not to get sick!

PM: 30:29 (3.5 miles or so).  Despite the fact this was a harder run than this morning (hilly loop on the Shoreline trail) I felt a lot better, though my body is tired.  Debated on going longer tonight, but decided against it -- maybe next week after I catch up on some sleep.

This weekend is going to be tough - I have to work all weekend, lots of deadlines.

1:00:40.  Ran from Poppington Park to City Creek Canyon - it was closed so I ran down to the Capitol and then back -- meaning that this was a downhill out and uphill back ... I felt really tired on the way out, but after about 3 miles I felt a lot better and picked it up on the last couple of uphill miles, just for a little confidence boost.

1:14:45 -- a little longer than 8, maybe by about 400/500 meters.  2 outer loops in the grass at Liberty Park and 1 inner grass loop.  One of the best runs I have had in over two months.  Probably because I finally got a really really good nights sleep.  I am embarrassed - but we got to bed really late because we were working on our sprinkler system until it got dark, so we ate late and consequently got to bed late.  So, I woke up at the usual time and fed the dogs and then went back to bed!!  I won't tell you how late we woke, but suffice to say it was the latest I have slept in 10 years!  My morning run was bordering on afternoon ... and it was a little hot.  But, despite the heat, my legs felt great, my mind felt great and I am happy ... though now I am behind in my work, still.

Happy weekend bloggers.
