Awesome run, I was the first out on the newly fallen snow. I actually took a chance and ran on some trails. Luckily the snow was not too deep, though just deep enough to mask rocks and holes, so I took it super easy on the way out. Then I made it to a forest service road that was much more sun exposed, and it was a little less dangerous -- however, in the two hours I was out quite a few of the sections of road had melted, and thus were deep, and heavy (;-)) mud. I felt really good, I had run this same route in October, and was not only faster, but just felt much stronger this time. So happy. Only bad thing was that when I got home my hands were so cold that I couldn't get my gloves off, I tried to warm them up with some tepid water, and put them near the heater, and as they thawed out it hurt so badly that it brought tears to my eyes. OUCH. It was so beautiful out though, well worth the 1/2 hour of discomfort. I loved being the first live thing on the trail!! |
