4 mile: 28:10 (2005)

10K: 43:33 (2010)

10 mile: 1:13:35 (2009) (1:12:15 split in 1/2 marathon, 2011)

1/2 marathon: 1:34:31 (2011)

marathon: 3:19:15 (2013)

Short-Term Running Goals:

3:20 marathon - Eugene Marathon, April 28, 2013 (can I say I really want a sub 3:20? but I will be happy with 3:20-3:23) -- whoohoo!

Some good intermediate races 15K - 1/2 marathon, to gauge my fitness level (done this, hit a 1:34:35 1/2 marathon in March 2013, on a hilly course)

Going after my 10 mile PR in Fall 2013

Maybe some good 10K races after the infernal Arizona summer is over!

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to be one of those runners who is still running in their 80s (or 90s?).  You know the ones, who look all grisley and fit?  That is what I would like!  Until then, I just want to work hard and be as fast as I can, for as long as I can.

AM: (8 miles, 1:11:33).  Warm ... but wow, from weather.com: "winds SSW 22 mph with gusts up to 42 mph".  Unfortunately, it was a headwind uphill all the way home.  Good thing I wasn't in a hurry or trying run a workout, slow and steady wins the race today.

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend.  I am finishing my paper and writing a final, all and all one of the most relaxing weekends I have had in over 2 months.

PM: 4 miles easy.

My coach posted an awesome read today on FB.  After reading it I laughed because I can tell that  these guys (e.g.,  my coach and Nic) are Lydiard followers, though the details are a little different, they all follow the same principles.  It took me a long time to figure out how to do workouts that were "controlled", and how to run totally by feel (never over-reach pace, and embrace long slow distances) my race times have come down significantly.  This stuff really works

You relax Bonnie. You sure deserve it!

BTW- I really believe running in headwind can make you an even stronger runner :)

Hi Lily!! You are a sweetie. I agree with you, a headwind is kind of like a hill workout -- of course, I was already getting a hill workout so I thought it was a little overkill ;-). I hope you are doing well ...

Nice running Bonnie - love them headwinds for training, hate'em in a race! I copied that link, looks like a great read, I will check it out today.

thanks for the Coach info. I hope today was considered aerobic even though my joints were all achy. Its hard sometimes to find that right pace. Liked the article. way to go in the wind. we were glad the wind was kind to us today, with only BRief gusts to 20 mph and 13 mph otherwise : D. this was at 5am. we finished just in time.

You always provide great information. I don't know what we'd do without you.

Julie - I am glad that early morning thing paid off for you - I would rather battle a hurricane than get up that early on a Saturday ;-)

CinC - you are sweet, and you won't ever have to find out. We did without you for a couple months and it was not fun I will tell you.
