Married, we have one daughter so far. I ran for Alta high school and was trained by Rob Murphy, he is a great coach, one of the best there is. I also ran for Southern Utah University.

I had to line up in row 2 and so I got boxed in at around 150th place. It took me a long time to weave my way through to catch up with read and some other guys, and it took me half the race to get back to right behind Davis. I just stayed there for the rest of the race, not feeling good but I could have run harder. I also kicked too late, I really should have gone when my coach told me to but I waited. I still managed to outkick a few guys from rival schools in the last 100 meters. I need to do a lot better, I am going to run in the low 10 minute range at grass relays. Hopefully I get first leg so I can race with Adam Jensen! I meant to go on a 4 mile run tonight but I had 5 pages of AP lit to do and I didn't finish until 10:30.

I like that the title of this race is "blake bennion" instead of Highland Invitational :-)

Hey don't underestimate your ability to kick from pretty far out. Not many high schoolers can run a 16 mile mountain race like you just did a few weeks ago. You have a lot of strength - believe it!

Oops, I guess I was still in school mentality when I blogged this haha! Thanks Jake, I think I need to be more mentally engaged in these 5ks, there are just so many people its hard to know which ones to race and how to race them all at once! I think I should try giving a moderate kick from half a mile out, and then really going with 250m left, I feel like my kick is a huge strength of mine that I often neglect in cross country!
