Today was amazing. got to lone peak around 2:30, walked around flexin the Js, ran a 2 mile shakeout with connor towards the canyon, then chilled and watched the first part of the meet. Watched spencer do well in the 400 and was excited for my shot to run later. Warmed up a mile with Austin, Riley and Mike. Then went and got ready, the meet was way ahead of schedule so my race ended up starting pretty early. Wished my boy Tyler some luck then went to the starting line. Was literally not nervous at all, and the weather was perfect. Danced a little bit while a bunch of the guys in my heat did a stride fealt hecka relaxed. Then the gun went off, I lined up in lane 6 so I cut in right off the bat, found andrew and stayed with him for the first two laps. Coming up to the end of the second lap I saw riley, who had got out a little bit ahead of us and I turned to Andrew and said "let's go catch him" so we did and once we got up with him I realized that I was at the front of the second group and that wasn't what I wanted. The lead pack was about 40 yards ahead of me and I still had a lot of energy, so I took a huge risk and hauled to catch up with them. Came across the Mile at 5:10, and my risk paid off, as I was able to stay with them, throughout the second mile I picked everyone off except for one Westlake kid at the front. Shout out to Connor for getting some vids of me and then saying some hecka motivating words to me the 7th lap. Got passed by some people in the last 200 but I was giving everything I had so that didn't get me down. Throughout the race I was constantly thinking that this was my last chance so I didn't want to leave anything to be told and I can sleep well tonight knowing that I gave my all. It was so sweet having my teamates there to cheer for me, they were all so loud, the majority of them were at the beginning of each lap and when I came around I would always have a surge by them because their positive energy was so contaigous. Gibson was cheering at the 200 mark, bill and kinley were at the 300 mark and my boy zack was at the 350 mark, so hearing those guys all race was super fun. My second mile was a 5:14 and I finished with a 10:24. My mom and sisters were able to come watch some of the race too which made me happy because I love them too and they support me more than anyone. When I think back on running track for Lehi, this will always be the race I think about, I was able to make it through a difficult season and peak at the right time. Shout out to all my teamates, I love y'all like family and am truly blessed to have you in my life. Also shoutout to coach for giving me the opportunity to run a region and prove that I could race well. Tyler and Jared get a shout out as well for all the hard work they have put in under difficult circumstances and have been able to push through and get some great times. Yall inspire me.
