| | Went to a wedding with a huge dessert table, there was some fruit which helped me resist the other sweets. Wish I could add the mileage I did on the dance floor. |
|
| |
I wish I had a way to track the miles I put on the dance floor at a wedding the night before. Glad that I was able to make this mileage today. |
| |
| |
This was done in 1/2 mile spurts, but I got further. |
|
| | Oops. It is difficult to get into an everyday routine. Visiting with friends seemed more important today. |
|
| | One mile to and from the store. The extra 1/2 snuck in while talking to a friend after Bible class. I'm actually wishing I could get another 2 back and forth to the library but it is already almost 4:30. Better planning tomorrow. |
| |
| | Back and forth to the library. Will need a better way of tracking distance to try the running on grass that was suggested to me. |
|
| |
Same route looked up on mapquest instead of google. |
| |
| |
I was really pumped with the TOU marathon going on today.
Congratulations to all from the blog that ran.
Especially #15 who did not break himself but still placed in his age group!
Don't laugh but I actually did a quarter mile in < 2 minutes today. It's a start. I used the blog's course tool to figure today out. VERY neat. |
|
| | Went to Walgreens and back before going to lunch at the folk's. |
|
| | 1/2 mile at lunch, then to the library before dinner. |
| |
| |
Farmers Market, Downtown and Canal path. I saw the Friendship Garden 1/2 mile from downtown. It was full of purple and white asters, goldenrod and butterflies. I got a lot more mileage going back and forth more than once, plus having a nice gravel surface. Found a sign that the Isle La Cache museum in Romeoville is just 4 miles down the path once you're already down a mile. That would be a nice place to show the grandkids, (if we only had to go one way.) |
|
| | Weighed in before Bible class, walked afterwards then went to look at siding and windows before going to work. After work went to S&S for dinner. |
|
| |
Lemont was totally fogged in this morning. Too spooky to go out into it. Did a quick mile in Burr Ridge before going in to work. Waiting for response. Maybe I'll get more in this afternoon.
I managed another 1.21 at lunchtime. Worked late and had to carry drinks to the garden club meeting at the library in the evening or I could have added a library run in the evening as well.
I know excuses, excuses. But, today (Fri.) is still young. |
| |
| | So much for consistency. A husband working from home after a business trip and a light mist of a rain was enough to keep me from any mileage. I did get batteries to keep track of mileage on the machine upstairs if it is still raining tomorrow. |
|
| | Went to Walgreen's before breakfast. Do I get extra points for carrying a gallon of milk back? |
|
| | My distance is just a guesstimate walking back and forth in the yard moving mulch. I lost count. But it is done. |
| |
| |
Walks been postponed due to HIGH winds. I'm heading off to work, I'll look when I get back at how the garden survived.
The weather was still terrible with lots of falling branches. I'll look at the garden Tuesday morning.
I planned on walking on the machine upstairs but the battery installation failed so the meter still wasn't working, and it was so much cozier under the blanket with Steve on the double chair. |
| |
| |
This would be my chance to really take off and beat Adam on the mileage board again since he hasn't posted. All I've managed this morning is a couple of times around the yard.
Although the dampness and winds are making the old bones creak, I do have the day off so I'll try to add more.
Went to Farmer's Market for more mileage, but then sat in poisonous plant class and visited with my folks instead of doing more. |
| |
| |
Went to WW before Bible class so I had more time to do the Prairie Path before work. Almost made it in 45 minutes but I stopped to meet Emma, a therapy Rottweiler who does "Reading to Rover" at the library, owned by a charming German man who referred to me as "nice girl" when he introduced us.
Had ribs for dinner with S&S (S had martial arts) so I didn't get miles after work.
|
| |
| | Managed 1 mile at lunch before it started to rain. |
|
| | Quick mile at lunchtime. Raining now. |
|
| |
Just to Chipains after church, before going to see Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs. Planned that when we were expecting rain all day. |
|
| | Wallked around Palos Hospital after passing my mammogram and then Birdhaven Greenhouse in Joliet after Garden Club luncheon. |
|
| |
Just a quick one at the Farmers Market before it started to rain.
I'm trying to get the motivation to go in to work. It is such a pain that I can't check on it from home. |
|
| | Quick mile at lunch between Worm Composting and Idea Exchange. |
|
| | Just realized that I didn't get any mileage in, which could explain my bad mood. |
| |
| |
Weighed in at 8, was reassured of a "normal" maintainance. Went to work and got a lot accomplished even while going off-clock for a couple hours at lunch and having a full, relaxing day.
At home talked to folks on phone then HAD to get going. Partly to make up for yesterday, mostly because my body craved it. Out the back, down the retention pond to 127th and around to Hillview. Started to go down Glynis to go back through the park and around to the back. Was getting too dark so I circled back around to Keepataw. Steve was waiting and we went out to Seamus McGees for dinner. Good thing I had my run.
|
|
| | Ran down to Historical Society Harvest Festival by way of the shrine. Took longer going back. Hills aren't as fun in both directions. |
| |
| |
Ran to store before Steve woke up, as the sun was rising.
Ended buying almost 12 lbs of stuff, so I was slower getting home, but still made it in time to watch the Chicago Marathon. Not as exciting (or as much exercise) as when I got to cheer my son during. Definitely not as exciting as when he and his wife announced their oldest daughter was on the way at the finish line. I'll check for race reports before my folks come to spend the afternoon. |
|
| | Took long way to store because it was getting dark and I didn't want to trip on the tree roots cutting through the park. It definitely improved my mood. |
| |
| | Canal path after Farmers Market and then Chipain's before dinner. Dinner was a Salmon and Crabmeat with wild rice casserole made with chicken. |
| |
| | Oops, I didn't get a run in today. Very busy day. A day without running is a day without sunshine. Actually it was a day without sunshine. |
|
| |
I really noticed the difference yesterday, so I figured a 1/2 mile before I go to work is better than none for the day. I am sooo cautious that I am just working on mass over distance and haven't even thought of speed.
If all goes right I'll try to do more at lunch and before Deb and I go to see Liz's play maybe I can talk her into some distance with me?? |
|
| | Are days off from mileage bad because I don't go or do I not go because it is a bad day? |
| |
| | Dash for breakfast bars and oatmeal. Went out again after lunch for milk. |
|
| | Talked Steve into going with me to get dinner. Would have liked to go the long way but the company was worth going the shorter distance. |
|
| |
It's Monday so I had to check out the fabulous KSW Times 2 instead of going this morning. I WILL try to get out early and go this afternoon while the weather is supposed to be so nice, maybe even hit 70 today or tomorrow.
Still a bit chilly after 1 but the new plant has a good path that I took to I55 and back. There was all sorts of wildlife and a lot of confused truck drivers. At least I got a break. |
|
| | No official mileage today. If I included all my chasing I'm sure I made it, but I faced a time crunch with having the chance for "grandma-duty" with my daughter-in-law going down state for her great-aunt or "second grandma's" funeral. |
| |
| |
Planning on going out now while it is sunny. Although it is supposed to be warmer in the afternoon, it might be raining.
Not a bit of rain. Went out at lunch and again with Sarah before dinner. \
Felt good after last night. Hope the kids are healthy enough for the Halloween Hoedown this Saturday. |
|
| | I went to teach Kindergarteners about worms as a master gardener and couldn't manage any mileage after that. |
|
| | When the rain is just mist, it feels good on my face. I never understood my son's enjoyment of running in the rain before. It is a true Fall day with all the leaves now covering the ground. Made my first 1/4 mile in 2 minutes. Return trip was a lot slower with 27+ lbs to carry and I only stopped 3 times to adjust bags. Whew! I feel a sense of accomplishment, now if only I didn't break myself. |
| |
| | Day started out cold rainy and gloomy, then when the sun came out I took off way too fast forgetting that it was in the forties and only made a quarter mile before needing to turn back. At least I got a sunshine fix and started feeling much better. Folks came for dinner and we had a very nice time. |
|
| | Dash to Jewel before church. About 4 hours of yardwork after lunch (with a delightful phone break) until dark. I have got to get a pedometer, I had to have put on at least another 2 miles going back and forth and around and around since one tour of the yard is .10. |
|
| | Made it before work to start the day right. |
|
| |
Did the Farmers' Market, Store and gardening. My dad lent me his pedometer so I could add it all up.
There is construction going on Lemont road and I missed a bump and landed on "me bum" this evening. Lucky there is still some padding there and I seem alright. |
| |
| | Officially 1.1 mile fitness path while waiting for Dr. appointment. Extra mileage on pedometer from parking lot and around and about. |
|
| |
Doubled the route avoiding construction. |
| |
| |
I am now officially 1/2 as fast as my son. He did his "13.11 miles. Avg. 7:30 on the dot" And I did my 2 in "just" 30 minutes which would give me a 15:00 average.
It was raining and I was carrying an umbrella, but I did start blogging at 20 minute miles. I bet he can't shave 5 minutes off his time :} |
| |
| | Two mile bank and store, then the other 3 in the yard. If I had read Sunday's blog, I would have gone out for another .7. |
|
| |
Ran to Hardware store for a new doorbell before dinner. Didn't have that many Trick or Treaters but it should have been replaced for that. All better now.
I didn't have the pedometer on for mileage during the rest of the day, but probably put on a few. Looking forward to lots and lots between 11/4 and 11/11 even if its just following the little ones around the house. |
|
| | Didn't actually get a course it. But the pedometer showed the above amount at the end of the day |
|
| | Once again I didn't do a specific course but still managed to get in mileage. Crazy, busy day getting ready for our trip. Can't wait for that. |
| |
| |
Actually went 1,386 miles (but that was in a car and plane). Wonderful welcome to Salt Lake City. Among his many talents, my son is a gourmet, and his wife and daughters are adorable.
The two miles included going through airports carrying a heavy briefcase. Looking forward to some actual mileage while siteseeing today.
|
| |
| | Distance by pedometer. Grandma can still run enough to keep up with a 3 1/2 year old. What glorious fun! |
|
| |
Just guessing on the mileage today. Lots of walking and a little running this morning. I do remember seeing 3.5 miles. I think the littlest one likes to push buttons. So wonderful getting to hold her and watch her fascination with something new and being around to watch all our blessings grow. |
|
| | Logged 1.5 miles at Red Butte Garden before removing my pedometer so that I wouldn't look "bumpy" in pictures. Got quite a workout during "quiet time" with my unbelieveable granddaughter that kept wanting to "run like the wind and hug" me. |
|
| | Last night got a brain workout playing Scrabble, stayed up to watch a Fred Astaire movie then got woken up around 12:30 by our neighbor's blaring radio. Called downstairs around 12:45, two times of knocking(4x) and the phone ringing once (4x) and then at 1:18 heard the door opening by key and the radio being turned off. By then I had a headache and at 2:30 still hadn't fallen back to sleep. Woke up at 6:15 and am in the lobby on the computer trying very hard to be honorable and not to go into dictionary to look for Q words. |
| |
| | I think this is what I got on the pedometer. |
|
| | Elliptical mileage in 20 minutes. |
|
| | Didn't put the pedometer on with having to go through airport security. Trapsing through O'hare was probably good for about a mile, but can't count it. Had a great spinach pie with S&S after we got home. I'm so lucky that both my "children" are such good cooks, with the crab and shrimp quiche that I got this trip and enough exercise to really enjoy it. |
|
| | Back home to shopping run. It was so strange hearing silence during it. Do I miss the family. |
|
| | Forgot the pedometer again and didn't do a route, but between shopping and yardwork, I did get in a few. |
|
| |
Got to do a big loop around town together even after Steve put in 2 miles golfing this morning. Going to our church's 96th anniversary dinner tonight with my folks.
Frazz cartoon today:
Girl: Nice weekend. Boy: For you. I've got this monday worksheet hanging over my head.
Girl: Which will take you 5 minutes and Mrs Olsen assigned it tuesday. Boy: I work best under pressure.
Girl: In your case, "Best" meaning... Boy: "Exclusively." |
| |
| | Just some shopping mileage on last day of vacation. Back to "training" on Monday. |
|
| | Had every intention of getting miles in at lunch but was too interested in getting the reports fixed at work, then I was going to go when I got home, but it was DARK, then I was going to use the walker upstairs but I made the mistake of laying down for "15 minutes" at 10. I heard the alarm go off but didn't move. Woke up during The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Went to bed at 12:30, read until 2:30, gave up trying to sleep at 4:30. Enough excuses. Tomorrow I will make the effort to get my mileage in at 7 (or whenever I wake up) before I go in to work. I do hope that everyone else in the family is getting a good night's sleep. |
|
| | Couldn't sleep last night. Went out before work to "get energy" Didn't work, with the wind and storm coming. At least I got something accomplished even if it wasn't a race. Congrats to ARW |
|
| | Pedometer miles after a good night's sleep. |
|
| | Love the pedometer for still getting in some mileage. |
|
| | Did a store run and weigh-in before work. Only put in a few hours at work. Because of smelly chemicals being used to clean the floor and their fear of my asthma I was told to go home. Was able to talk to a good friend and spend time with my folks (including another store walk with my mom) before getting my hair cut and heading to book club now. |
| |
| | Still got up at 5:30 this morning after a late, fun night at book club. Ran to get lunch and did yard work. Now date night tonight :) |
| |
| | Went to do a run to the store before church and ended up staying home and doing my air walker instead. Did a Walgreens run before dinner of last night's pizza. |
|
| | Went both before and after a shorter day at work. Finally got in a chiro visit and that really opened up my lungs finally. Lost track of time getting in mileage in the evening and my chef beat me home. Still, we had a homecooked bbq butterfly pork chop dinner including sweet potato and fresh cauliflower. Yum. |
|
| | Miles are just pedometer miles put on at work. Amazing how it adds up. I got so much done and was having so much fun, I didn't want to leave. I wish everyone's day went as well, or even better! |
|
| |
Planned on a grocery run before Bible class. Couldn't get going. Took car and was still late. Went for a cup and to talk to a friend, ended up being needed to listen. Ate lunch in car on way to work. Got sent home from work to "have a Happy Thanksgiving". Spent hours trying to come up with the solution so I would know where to start on Monday. Never did get miles. |
|
| | Happy Thanksgiving. Spent time with our youngest daughter for a quick lunch a Burger King then she went to her mom's for dinner and we spent it with my folks. Just the four of us, but so much to be thankful for. Oops took day off even with all that good food. |
|
| | Went home from shopping trip on foot. Needed to get started somewhere. Felt good. I should have gone both ways. |
|
| |
Weighed in, then Saturday chores on foot. It felt fabulous to get going again. I need to keep at it. We had both sets of folks, his brother's family, both our daughter's and my son-in-law on Saturday. We all managed to fit in the dining room together. Cozy. My railroad guy cooked a full sit-down dinner with scheduling precision. Standing rib roast, pork loin, sweet potatoes with mini marshmallows, homemade stuffing balls, corn, grilled whole red potatoes with non-fat yogurt as sour cream. I even got to say "And I helped" :}
Plus we had artichoke dip, home-brewed beer, spinach salad, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie and butterscotch brownies brought by guests. Good thing I did those miles.
|
|
| | Oops. I have to get back to wearing the pedometer to keep track. Lots of running around but nothing to show for it. Did have an interesting conversation with someone who was running while talking. Amazing. I have trouble walking and talking at the same time. On further thought, time is more likely the cure than excercise, but so glad he's feeling good again. |
| |
| |
Got up early to read The Times. Have a stew in the slow cooker, all but one load of laundry done. On my way to work. The plan is to go in to check email and try something, then get miles in while waiting for a response. The sun is shining and want to get out in it while I can. Evening comes too quickly this time of year.
I ended up leaving at 3:30 so that I could get my miles in before dinner. I went across the street to Waterfall Glen and did one of their smooth and wide paths which is part of the Route 66 bike path. Picked the one that was 1.4 miles (not realizing that they only measure one way.) There had been a sign that the preserve was closing an hour before sunset for deer management so I went my fastest time yet and finished in < 30 minutes. |
|
| |
1.37? Drawing a blank on if I ran or rode.
Son had a horrid day and stepson's back started hurting him before he learnt his grandfather was flying to AZ for back surgery. Tomorrow has to be better.
Got fixings for cole slaw I had to get ready for Dorcas (ladies guild) party at church.. Running late so I brought ingredients to work and made it at lunch. Couldn't get the report to work and ignored 3:00 alarm and kept working to 5:30 when plant was shut down. Got to car and couldn't find keys. Made phone calls for help and then again to cancel when I found them between the seats in car. Car was running on empty so stopped for gas but didn't fill all the way up for lack of time. Arrived just at 7 for 6:30 meeting. Hadn't started eating eat yet and a couple women still arrived after me. 25 were there and there was a lot of silliness and laughter. |
| |
| | Store run for dinner. Stop at Dollar General to get $20 of cake mixes for MG food drive. Just made it to interesting Bible class where I had flashes of understanding how Moses' story tied in to Jesus' and ours. The Bishop's example was soup, how everything is intermingled. Got to see Karen for minutes afterwards and wish her a great Germany trip before driving to Matteson in <45 minutes for Master Gardener party and becoming official. LOTS of good food and conversation. Then back to Lemont for Bun/Creatine blood test for yearly MRI on the 14th. Then Salmon / Rib (leftover beef ribs from Sat. roast) broccoli and cauliflower dinner and more good conversation with Sarah. Great day. |
|
| | Didn't get out this morning. It's already almost an hour late for delivery. Hopefully afterwards. I think I need it. |
|
| | Store run, then short day at work. Got the rest of the mileage in getting ready for overnight guests. I never thought that I would say it buy I'm so glad that I had my own children as young as I did. In a few more years I don't know if I would have the energy to keep up with them. I do know that my attempt at daily miles has given me more energy that I had a few years ago. |
|
| | Went for a peaceful walk in the sunshine with Steve. What a guy. I'm glad that he is calm and understanding. |
| |
| | Just pedometer miles, but a very pleasant Sunday with Sunday School, parent visit and long "conversation" hearing my oldest granddaughter play. |
|
| | Woke up to an inch of snow, enough to lose motivation to do morning miles. Maybe at lunch? Drove home from work to library thinking it would be too dark, but it was light enough to go 1.5 around the neighborhood. |
| |
| | Finally made a store run. Great. The weather has warmed. |
| |
| |
Didn't put on the pedometer, or I would have racked up a few.
Saturday morning was dashing to grandparent duty so they could drive to Oswego to have lunch and go to the movie's with my daughter-in-law's family without the youngest and then dashing back so that we could get to my dad's family party. It's unbelieveable how fast the kids grow. The littlest at the party was 2 1/2 and kept right up with the three other little girls in 1st, 2nd, 6th grade. Although Hope informed me that she is now a preteen, not a child. The boys in 8th and sophomore were polite, and helpful to their moms and way too grown. Reminded me of my own and how there are two very fortunate girls out there that will marry them some day.
My own two "kids" really made me proud. My daughter and her husband arriving before my parents and my son calling as the whole family was gathered around the tree to wish us all a Merry Christmas. Too bad it wasn't easy to talk.
We didn't get home until almost midnight, the latest we have stayed in years.
|
| |
| | Store mileage, but it was something. |
| |
| | All pedometer miles indoors. I think that stairs migh skew the distance because I was running in circles in the house for the majority. |
| |
| | Got a bit more snow last night. It's all pretty white with squirrels frolicking. Full day with meeting at work then relaxation in Homewood. We'll see about distance. |
|
| | Been bad at getting out in the cold and snow (unlike my crazy son), but he's at a lot more dedicated and practiced at this. I went and saw the "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" with my friend and her daughter which was a lot more fun although probably not as good for me. |
| |
| | I went to Walgreens to get vitamins, then over to McDonalds for breakfast, then I went to the library, then back to home. Weather is still clear enough to continue, but walking isn't.
